sekihiryu 51 Posted April 23, 2004 any chance of adding a facility that allows members to upload photos?, other forums I belong to have such features, about 20 photos maximum, which is great for those of us without our own websites to link to, free sites like geocities and dotphoto et al dont like linking. we can upload avatars, any chance to extend that priviledge a little? cheers
Mark Buckton 1 Posted April 23, 2004 And, any chance of splitting the 'Phots's thread in the Ozumo discussion area - takes an age to load, search etc. Perhaps split into months or every 2 or 3 or so. Just a thought based on no knowledge of technicalities - apologies if impossible. ANR PS - seki - nice concrete comment B-) :-) Have heard that a full 95 % of the entire 15000(?) km coast is concreted. Sad if true. (Laughing...)
MongolPower 0 Posted April 23, 2004 Please allow us upload pictures. I have Apache server and us my IP address to put up some pictures and link to the forum but people can't see the pictures when my computer is off. A gallery with thumb pictures are really nice. Takanobaka 0 Posted April 23, 2004 (edited) ANR - you may change your options as to te number of posts the appear per page...if you set that number lower, and you don't have that great of a connection, it should load much faster (i.e. 10 posts per pae loads infinitely faster than 40 per page). I'm sure you already realized this, but hopeflly it will ease your pain... Edit: typo Edited April 23, 2004 by Takanobaka
Rijicho 6 Posted April 23, 2004 I have to see how these things work actually. Will get back to this soon :-D
bennyloh 0 Posted April 24, 2004 any chance of adding a facility that allows members to upload photos?, other forums I belong to have such features, about 20 photos maximum, which is great for those of us without our own websites to link to, free sites like geocities and dotphoto et al dont like linking.we can upload avatars, any chance to extend that priviledge a little? cheers I saw your unsuccessful posting at "Test-Forum" of a picture/poster and your mention here about free websites that don't like linking and I am prompted to share something with you. Pardon me if I am not talking about the problem that you face. The problems that I encountered years ago were similar and I went to great length to find out the problems. There are two areas that you have to know about free websites. a) problems about royalty- geocities were having problems with some forum hosts way back many years ago, I suspect this is the case beacuse this forum's format looks like the one that I was posting then. Everytime I post, only to be deleted later on or after a few days. If this is the case, look for another free website that don't have such problem. b)Other free webites may allow you to upload and store plenty provided you set up a website. This is to enable them to advertise on your website. If you have not set up a website by a certain period, you'll face problems like your posting in "test-forum" I have a paid website(a friend is handling for me) but I am using the free ones without any problem at my end due to convenience. Look at the cartoons I posted, not only in this forum but many places too! Perhabs I should PM you with illustrations. I hope I am talking about the same problem. sekihiryu 51 Posted April 24, 2004 Hi Bennyloh, yes you are on track with your assesment. I guessed it was to do with the royalties and advertisements. Some of the geocities links work some of the time, but they are inconsistent, one day I will get my own website and it shall no longer be a problem :)
Yoavoshimaru 0 Posted April 27, 2004 As far as the pictures thread, though slightly off-topic for this thread, we had a vote to keep the picture thread together for ease of continuous browsing. Perhaps the time is ripe for another vote.

Perhaps the time is ripe for another vote. Well, I still don't see what's to be gained from splitting the thread...if you want to view everything, where's the difference between having to browse one 20-page thread, four 5-page threads, or 20 single-page threads? And if you don't want to view everything, nobody's forcing you to look at all pages. Besides, splitting would likely have to be arbitrary at this time...thematically won't work since it's one huge mumbo-jumbo by now.
Rijicho 6 Posted April 28, 2004 There is now a chance to upload pictures. 300kb maximum size per picture. When you post a message there is a box in the bottom part of the page you can use to attack a picture to your post.
