Treblemaker 254 Posted April 18, 2011 Canada Called that number, was long outdated... and the site was abandoned around 2005 or so. Too bad. Was looking forward to visiting a sumo club 20 minutes from my house... Check the pic of one Aja Tsuji, easily the best looking sumo wrestler of ALL TIME. She won gold in the same division in 2003. Unfortunately, have no idea what happened to that Club. Will do some searching.
Harry 67 Posted April 19, 2011 (edited) Believe it or not she took up singing after that. Was a contestant on "Young Asian Canadian Idol", sorry I thought it was the 'real' Canadian Idol but apparently not. http://www.flickr.com/photos/deerockx/5044.../in/photostream Japanese/Scottish gal, from my two favorites places abroad! How do I do inline youtube again? And she's getting Married in October. No I don't know her, the internet age is just kind of crazy... http://registry.weddingchannel.com/coupled...A_TSUJICARR.htm Edited April 19, 2011 by Harry
Treblemaker 254 Posted April 19, 2011 Did a little more digging.... That club is still around, but moved to a spot nearby. Elmer is the bearded guy in the photo, and teaches judo and sumo. Is still one of the only official sumo clubs in Canada, and when I spoke to him, turns out he's fought in Japan and several other counties. Seems like a really nice guy who knows his stuff. Primarily a judo club, it has sumo classes two nights a week. I might drop in on a session one evening next week.
kenzo 5 Posted April 19, 2011 Check the pic of one Aja Tsuji, easily the best looking sumo wrestler of ALL TIME. She won gold in the same division in 2003.nne You obvioulsy never saw Anne Marie Overtoom, apart from being a great lightweight she also won an extra award at th emoscow open in 2000 "Miss Sumo" BTW I last saw the Canadians at the SWC in 1999 when they actually beat Mongolia 3-0.....in the taem event ,mainly because the organizers gave the Mongolians the incorrect starting time for the team event , they had 14.00 when it actually kicked off at 12.30 . I clearly remember a furious Mongolian team entering the arena as the Canadians had just bowed and were leaving the dohyo...........as they say "the rest is history"
Johnofuji 232 Posted April 20, 2011 Sorry to disagree with you Treblemaker but saying that shows you have done about as much investigation on the subject as the yaocho committee. No offense to Aja but that title was with Rie Tsuihiji many years ago. In Aja defense I have to say I haven't seen the current amasumo girls wear anything as high cut under the mawashi but maybe that's a good thing. Here are two girls that I coach. The one with Akebono (Caitlin Szanto -after her bouts and with no makeup) has three gold medals in Oceania and National Titles and Clare Lutton with Minaminoshima has two silver medals. There are also many other aesthetically pleasing amasumo girls around the world - and some ...well....their mothers love them. Most of us men have been beaten with the ugly stick. Kenzo do you have a picture? The only thing I can find on google is someone who looks far to much like Amy WhineHouse. See if you can get Canada active internationally again Treblemaker. Much better for them than curling.
Treblemaker 254 Posted April 20, 2011 To be perfectly honest, I wouldn't mind being tsuridashi-ed by any of these lovely young ladies.
Torisutan Teh Piston 0 Posted February 24, 2022 Aja is my cousin, our grandfather Toshiro and his brother Toru Tsuji were students in Raymond Alberta and continued practicing and teaching Judo in Ontario, my grandfather "Roy" was an instructor at Toronto's Jewish Community Centre. Aja is not just a competitive martial artist and singer, she can scrap. But has a heart of gold and sunny disposition. Her Sensei Elmer Gale is an incredibly kindhearted and intelligent man who has extensive experience as a downtown bouncer as well. His class is not glamorous but very practical.
