Yokotanoharry 1 Posted January 22, 2011 Does he to have it to go up? Good body and attitude it seems. Slow tachiai previously but not showing it this time. Beaten by Kisenosato yesterday, but held is own. ;-)
shumitto 418 Posted January 23, 2011 This bloke is for real. I don't know what held him back for so long in the lower divisions, but it's clear he has what it takes to prosper as a very solid sekitori. Maybe as talented as the so-called ozeki candidates of nowadays.
Asashosakari 20,225 Posted January 23, 2011 (edited) Blast from the past: I was shilling for Okinoumi about a year ago. My promise to gloat mercilessly if he actually becomes ozeki remains on the board. FWIW, he seems to suffer occasional problems with his upper torso area...when his first two juryo basho were so badly derailed (4-11, 5-10 after 7-0 in high makushita) he was fighting with major tapings on both shoulders, and IIRC he had an elbow bandaged up in a recent makuuchi tournament. He also has a bit of a reputation for being a keiko slacker, but at least he's got the right shisho in Hakkaku-oyakata for that. Vikanohara 171 Posted January 23, 2011 (edited) Well, since about half a year I think this guy could become one of the next couple of Ozeki. He might just need to gain a bit more weight to achieve this. But first Goeido & Toyonoshima, please. :-P Edited January 23, 2011 by Vikanohara
