Mark Buckton 1 Posted April 13, 2004 Is it me or have Uchidate's digs at Shoryu slackened off recently? Could his attire faux pas (s) have become more acceptable? Just a guess but P30 of the March sumo mag could provide a hint in that therein Taiho and Kashiwado, whilst on a tour of the US (Feb 1964 it says) are both donning chinos and checked shirts. Called 'rough' wear in the piece they look pretty dapper and appear to be in Arizona. (sorry - no way to get it online) Just a thought - the great Taiho appearing in a long forgotten pic no doubt seen by the Uchidate and nothing recently? Yoavoshimaru 0 Posted April 13, 2004 Or perhaps she was quietly told to back off by the NSK/YDC.
Yubiquitoyama 4 Posted April 13, 2004 (edited) Is it me or have Uchidate's digs at Shoryu slackened off recently?Could his attire faux pas (s) have become more acceptable? Was his meeting with the Mongolian primeminister really after this basho? The forum seemed to indicate it was an old picture from last year, when he DID get in trouble for his attire. Anyway, I think it's much too early to say whether Uchidate has "slackened off". She commented on Asashoryu's left-hand shenanigans rather recently and really, Asashoryu hasn't done much since then that would need any remarks, I assume, or someone (likely Kitanoumi) would definitely have said something. Besides, it's mostly the days surrounding the basho the YDC-members seems to get in contact with the press (for rather natural reasons, since that is when the press has any interest of them), so it's a bit soon to draw any conclusions about whether Uchidate still has things on her mind. Come next basho, she might well have new things to comment on... Edited April 13, 2004 by Yubiquitoyama
MongolPower 0 Posted April 14, 2004 People should post their critisism for Asa. So it will be a fact that something Asa did/does bothers you before Ms. Uchidate points it out for you. Issues bother people only after someone points it out for them. It always amazes me.
Naganoyama 6,024 Posted April 14, 2004 Is it me or have Uchidate's digs at Shoryu slackened off recently? Interesting theory but I think she just hasn't found anything to criticise. I don't think it is likely that she has backed off.
