Day 6 Makuuchi report

Recommended Posts

Tochinohana looked like an intoxicated individual with his shaky movements

and depressed gestures after being escorted out effortlessly to 0-6 by

Tamarikido who was 0-6 against Tochinohana before the bout.

Jumonji's back is ailing, pain is present, odd taping is wrapped in his

back. The affect must be something similar to wrapping a tape around the

chest when suffering from heart disease.

Kotonowaka gets left uwate and simply

overpowers Wakanosato with great yorikiri.

It sure was a great victory! WHOOOOW! This morning a beautiful spring sun came out, the birds were singing, and now I've seen this, my day is just perfect!

Still prediction is that Jumonji has now entered an elevator taking him down.

I wonder how serious his pain is... After a 5-0 start it would be very disappointing not to end up with KK. I hope he does.

Intaishima

Akinoyusho

Why do you hate the guy so much, lol. But yeah, I understand you. I myself gave him a nickname in russian which translates as "the disaster" or "the tragedy".

Dejima-Kotomitsuki

Mickey is no Ozeki material. While maybe it was unfair not to promote him then, but now he shows that that decision is rather justified.

Wakanosato is a mystery!

He does often have relatively bad starts. Usually getting stronger near the end, but still not Ozeki material.

Muso is angry but injures his shoulder. Was that a fake injury? I don't think so.

Fake or not, it came right on time to allow him to end his embarassing performance. I think his response to it will determine. Still, he's no Ozeki material. He annoys me.

Kaio looked mean!!! He used his right arm

well today and bulldozed Tama out with power. Best bout by Kaio so far.

That was the real Kaio. I wonder whether we will ever be seeing the real Kaio again for more than just a bout or two. I sure would like that.

That, we will never know. Part of Kotomitsuki's problems have obviously been mental, such as a lack of confidence. It's impossible to say if that had been the same if he HAD gotten promoted. Even if it WOULD have been the same, I can't see that the decision of the Kyokai would suddenly change from unjustified to justified 6 months or a year after the fact. Kotomitsuki suffered because Miyabiyama had been a bad Ozeki. I only hope that he can eventually get back health as well as confidence, which should once again make him an Ozeki candidate.

Tokitsuumi calmly proceeds with basic shikiri

I thought this was an excellent bout by Tokitsuumi.  He was calm, controlled, and forced his own style on the match.

Yobidashi uses

his broom well. I wonder if yobidashi do a lot of housework at home

This made me laugh out loud for a few seconds  :-(  :-)   So funny.

Kasugao does MIRACULOUS come-back!!!

Absolutely miraculous.  Good show from Kasugao.  Lack of experience shown by Asasekiryu I think.  He is improving with every day of this basho, after a shaky 0-3 start.

I agree with you there. It's always nice to have good guys around. I meant that at the moment he doesn't seem good enough to be in the Ozeki race, but if he shapes up, maybe he'll make it. He has talent, no question there. He beat Ozeki and Yokozuna many times. I'd rather see him becoming a Kaio than an Akinoshima.

Musoyama is likely to withdraw? Who knows. Life is life.

According to www.japan-sumo.ru , he's out. But that's not official, and I haven't seen a notification on the Kyokai english site.
