Fujisan 533 Posted February 11, 2003 I saw days 1-6 no problem, missed days 7-9 but that was my own fault-Now can someone tell me what happened to days 10-13 because the next shown was the last two days of the basho and I checked every day for when it was next on,I dont get it-Did Eurosport skip 4 days? Doitsuyama 1,259 Posted February 11, 2003 Yes, they changed program (of course...). Day 10 to 15 were shown in a two hour show on Sunday from 9pm to 11pm (CET). I didn't see it so far (only recorded on VHS), but reprortedly it was a good show with a lot of material regarding new Yokozuna Asashōryū (celebration, press conference, tsuna-making, dohyō-iri training with Akebono). There will be a re-run in two or three weeks or so.
Fujisan 533 Posted February 26, 2003 Thanks Doitsu, bloody typical isnt it. Anybody know exactly when it will be repeated? Actually I caught the bit with Asashoryus installation as Yokozuna and all the extras,it was pretty great stuff.
Guest Kyukenzan Posted March 2, 2003 I don't have access to Eurosport, and so I missed Asashoryu's yokozuna introduction and the famed dohyo-iri lesson. Why can't someone make these goodies available on the net? I would love to watch them
Kotoseiya Yuichi 3 Posted March 2, 2003 Why can't someone make these goodies available on the net? I would love to unless my TV card's software sucked like there's no tomorrow. I know how to record uncompressed video but no one wants to download such large files. Do I feel stupid or what...? :-@
Yoavoshimaru 0 Posted March 3, 2003 I know how to record uncompressed video but no one wants to download such large files. Well, if you feel like it and have the time, check here for many encoding utilities. You can use these freely to encode your video into RealMedia or Window Media formats, compressing the videos significantly in the process.
Kotoseiya Yuichi 3 Posted March 3, 2003 check here for many encoding utilities I will! I know the software that came with the card should be able to compress video stream in realtime but I can't seem to make it happen. Moreover, everything in that card's software seems to suck even though it was said by many that other cards suck even more softwarewise. (Grr...) It really seems TV cards aren't yet too mainstream components. I'm having problems with the audio as well. It used to work perfectly well until the audio completely disappeared never to be heard again. New operating system installations, new motherboard, new drivers, new sound card, new whatever... but no audio. Frustrating... (Holding vomit...)
Fujisan 533 Posted March 4, 2003 Looks like its starting again tonight(Or possibly it started yesterday,if so I missed it)11.15pm in England. Dont miss it,unless you have no choice.
Yoavoshimaru 0 Posted March 4, 2003 Thanks for the heads-up Fujisan-zeki. I will seek out the nearest Eurosport-equipped pub! :-)
Yoavoshimaru 0 Posted March 5, 2003 After posting the above, I searched online and found a few places, including this one which seems to be updated after every basho. But I wonder where he gets his data, and I can't read hungarian :-P

Yoavoshimaru 0 Posted March 6, 2003 Thanks Yubiquitoyama-zeki! Without your post I probably wouldn't have noticed the site has an English part. What a great site! Thanks Bandey if you're reading this :-P And keep it up! My apologies for posting this weight comment with the link to Bandey's site in the wrong thread. I meant to put it in the Asashoryu is too big/too small/too quick thread.

Yoavoshimaru 0 Posted March 6, 2003 Hmm, on the page after your link stands clear and bright: By the newest data available on Sumo Kyokai's site. This seems to answer your question readily even in plain English. Doh :-) (But, but...) I looked at the line above, saw Hungarian, stopped reading... I'm really sorry Yoavo, looks like they cancelled it again-Put some bloody charity football on in its place,I hope it didnt put you out too much. It's alright, it was actually a good experience as: - The pub I usually go to for Eurosport was closed for renovations, so - I found a different one, which turned out to be cool - My girlfriend liked the new pub better because it has better food So... in a way, thank you Fujisan-zeki! :-)
Doitsuyama 1,259 Posted March 7, 2003 I just made a RealMedia file covering the goodies from Asashōryūs Yokozuna promotion. The size is 9 MB, but this are more than 5 minutes, so it should be ok. Just download it at AsashoryuYokozunaPromotion.rm and check it out. I think it really is nice and you can brush up your German. :-) :-)
Yoavoshimaru 0 Posted March 7, 2003 Awesome! Thank you Doitsuyama-zeki. I like the various official ceremonies involved with this promotion. They have a nice combination of solemn tradition and yet happiness at a great occasion.
Kotoseiya Yuichi 3 Posted March 7, 2003 I'd like to thank Doitsu as well. I especially liked the sequence where they showed the making of the tsuna. Trivia question: Whenever a tsuna is too long, its "tails" are cut off. What are those parts of tsuna good for? (I know the answer and undoubtedly some others as well but it'd be interesting to hear suggestions... :-D )
Fujisan 533 Posted March 8, 2003 S'okay Yoavo,Did you catch it on thursday night then? It was days 10-12 again and days 13-15 where on yesterday between 1.30-2.30 pm,so now the only days I havent seen are 7-9 which means I missed Takanohanas last ever match and Asashoryus one and only loss-What a bummer! Guest Kyukenzan Posted March 8, 2003 Awesome, Doitsuyama! I will download it immediately when I get home. Thanks a lot! EDIT: Just watched it, this is GOLD! Once again thank you!
Yoavoshimaru 0 Posted March 9, 2003 S'okay Yoavo,Did you catch it on thursday night then? I didn't :-@ Although I'm excited to announce I spoke with my cable company today and added TV-Japan to the channel lineup (Exclamation) I don't remember whose advice it was (Tony maybe?), but they suggested getting TV-Japan (since we don't have Eurosport here unless you get a satellite dish) for the duration of the basho and then cancelling. So I took the advice and am trying this approach. I'll probably write a short summary about it at the end of the basho in case others here in the US are interested. (Feeling artistic...) Fujisan 533 Posted March 10, 2003 Pleased to hear that Yoavo-You cant get Eurosport and I wouldnt know where to begin looking for Tv-Japan,so lets hope neither ceases transmission-That would be a nightmare.
