Sakari gets new glasses + new recruit

Takamisakari received a new pair of cool, modern, rimless glasses, and

he immediately chucked the old Clark Kent model he has been using. Is he

plotting an image make-over? "Well, they don't fit perfectly, but they

be feelin' real good!", he exclaimed. "You look like someone else",

taunted one of his tsukebitos icily. "Yeah, I look like a murder

suspect", he joked, baffling reporters as to what exactly he was

referring to. The part that goes on the ears was inscribed "Persistent

Soul". "That's me!!", he shouted, referring to the serious injury that

sent him down to Makushita and back. Today, he stayed in-heya and worked

out with Ushiomaru.

New recruit, 23 (pretty old, no?) year old Yokoyama who is the Yokozuna

of the "Vocational School "実業団横綱 (help..) and was college Yokozuna

last year, has joined Azumazeki, and has qualified to start as

tsukedashi in Haru. "I'll be doing my best from now on", he ad-libbed.

Heya has extremely high hopes for him. 1.87 meters/6ft 4" and 140

kilos/309 lbs.

Asashouryuu is back in Mongolia again for New Year's. He will return on

the second and resume keiko on the third.

He apparently was already in his 4th year at Toyo University (that the one you were looking for?) in 2002, so unless his graduation was delayed, I guess he postponed his pro debut by a year, explaining his age.

Edit: The babelfish translates the kanji as "industry group sumo champion"...corporate league perhaps? Hmm...I'm confused.
