Kintamayama 47,179 Posted December 12, 2003 (edited) Kokonoe Oyakata has recruited a new Chinese rikishi from Inner Mongolia. He will enter Maezumo in January. His Shikona is 白光斗 which can be read in many ways.. (Hakkouto? Hakukouto? Hakkeyooiyooi?) He is 20 years old, 1.80 meters( 5ft.9) and weighs 102 kilos (225 lbs.). He has played basketball in the past. He will be the first foreigner in Kokonoe-beya since ex-Chiyonofuji took over in 1992. The newbie is in Japan since July and has been going to Japanese language school. "He is a serious, obedient person", said Oyakata, quietly eyeing the row of new canes he just bought. Yoavoshimaru 0 Posted December 12, 2003 1.80 meters( 5ft.9) I think 1.80meters = 5.9ft != 5ft 9inches ;-) It's 5ft 10.8in, i.e. 5'11". Which happens to be just about my height (Punk rocker...)

Well, 1 meter is 3.28 feet. 80 centimeters is 2.62 feet. 1.80 is 5.9 ft and a wee bit.
Zuikakuyama 1 Posted December 13, 2003 Yes, it is approximately 5.9 feet (as expressed in decimal points). However, sub-units of feets are not expressed in decimal points, but rather in inches, so the more correct expression would be 5 foot 11 inches rather than 5.9 foot. i.e, (11 inches = 0.9 feet). To temporarily revive an old thread...I was just digging through the Kyokai database, and came across this guy's entry. The shikona is currently listed as Haku, for what that's worth.
