November 1st news- Sakari and stuff

Recommended Posts

Takamisakari had to finally go to the hospital after being thrown by Asashouryuu in keiko, to see what kind of damage there is to his right shoulder. He refrained from doing any keiko yesterday, and did only shikos. Hospital found tendon injury (筋損傷), nothing broken. Sakari tried to avoid the reporters by running up to his second floor room at Takasago, but was persuaded to say a few words to the press. "I'm a human being. I wish I were a robot, so this wouldn't happen. That kind of a throw can damage anyone!!", he said. He added that he would definitely not be missing Kyushu.. Azumazeki: "It's OK. He will not be kyujo. He did a lot of training during jungyo, so his body is highly toned. But, due to the shoulder being extended, we'll take it easy the next 3,4 days and monitor the situation". Asashouryuu's "lesson", which was the height of other "lessons" dished out to Sakari by KaioU and others during the week, has resulted in an unexpected injury that probably will affect the level of his participation in Kyushu. "It's better not to use dangerous throws like the "backdrop" during keiko," added Azumazeki, highly perplexed. He has decided to suspend Sakari's de-geikos at Takasago as well.

While doing those shikos, the shoulder pain was clearly visible on his facial expressions. Dark clouds cover Takamisakari's return to Komusubi.

Musashimaru is still going nowhere in terms of ability. He went 10-5 against Miyabiyama and others, and is not looking good. Aside from shying away from using his left wrist, his tachi-ai is looking very poor. "LOWER your waist !!", Musashigawa was heard shouting time and again at keiko. " Still trying to remember..", said Musashimaru with a serious look about him. (My translator- "an aura of refined masculinity", was what his facial expression emitted..)

Then, Oyakata forced him to "stay after school" for some additional private training. Oyakata "reminded" him of some tachi-ai stuff (where to put the hands, sonkyo, etc.) It has been a while since he was personally guided by his Shisho. "I'll be getting coached till I remember!!", Musashimaru said, at the risk of being repetitive.

Tendon injury? Any details?

I agree with Akebobo that it is not good to use these dangerous moves in keiko. Surely Sakke must be annoying with his keiko sluggishness but he did beat Shoryu twice in a row after which Shoryu decided to punish Sakke by throwing him down with that okuritsuriotoshi instead of just walking him out with okuridashi after getting behind. To comment on the earlier puzzlement by Asashosakari and others concerning why Sakke's keiko is considered so bad even when he beats Shoryu twice in a row. The key element seems to be in the weakness of his defense in keiko, not his attack. When he gets offensive at the beginning of keiko bout, he is probably very strong but when he doesn't get a favourable position, he collapses and becomes a weakling so the problem is that he can be like sandanme rikishi in defense and this is like a red cloth to bullying rikishi!

If the speculation tha Shoryu aggravated his waist injury is true, it highlights the stupidity and immaturity of the act. Such a lift-twist throw strains the sides VERY much and if Shoryu aggravated the injury in that throw..well you harvest what you seed eh? (Applauding...)

If Sakke's shoulder injury isn't very bad and he is not weakened by it in Kyushu, this week of lighter keiko could turn out beneficial for him. After all he has done a lot of keiko throughout jungyo and fatique may have accumulated already.

Sakke may cherish his role as punching bag and feel like he needs the punishment in order to regard keiko session as good and refining. Who knows..maybe the best keiko he has ever had in his opinion were the sessions he erupted in desperate crying and owling. Maybe Sakke is the true keiko-masocist who secretly even wants his keiko partners to kick his butt to orbit around Musashimaru or something!

Due to the fact that I have never seen Takamisakari in keiko (other than in short clips) I am hereby inadequately informed visually by the features in his keiko. So I am obliged to inquire a stipend of 5 000 euros from sumoforum for a week's visit to watch Takamisakari-keiko and analyze the details of the keiko! Grant me the stipend and I shall solve the puzzle! :-(

I also request another stipend for Amanogawa who can then join me at Takamisakari-keiko and act as interpreter as I communicate with the participants in Robo's keiko life and interrogate them! Sounds good...

Me finds Musashimaru keiko promising in a way too. Not necessarily because of the outcome of the bouts but because of the advisory, determination etc. Maru seems to be making a strong effort now to return with heavy contribution. The articles hint that his heya-mates are asked to attack him more from left side and maybe Maru himself also gives in to this idea and doesn't excessively try to fight with right hand side only in keiko. We shall see!

Or maybe he's a big fan of "Rocky" movies. Kind of like when Rocky intentionally gets punched...

"He's ain't getting beat. He's getting mad!" (wasn't that Paulie who said that)

Eye of the tiger, Robocop!
