Taizeniki 0 Posted November 23, 2008 Kazafuzan, the 4/3, 3/4 king went 3-4 this time! Very sad! I was hoping for him to break through the glass ceiling this time.... Keep working Tiger!!!!!!!
Azumashida 1 Posted November 23, 2008 After a rather promising first basho in makushita in September (3-4), Masunofuji had a disastrous basho in high sandanme this time: he started 0-5 and finishes 1-6. I'm sure he'll bounce back next basho though!
Kotononami 86 Posted November 23, 2008 After a great 6-1 last basho , Heavy young Mankajo went 4-3 in high sandanme and will be likely promoted to makushita for the first time next basho.
Danjinoumi 10 Posted November 23, 2008 After heating the wall for the first time with a 3-4 record in Nagoya, Shiratsuka is back on the kachi-koshi bandwagon with a 5-2 Aki Basho performance and a 4-3 record from Ms8e (his highest rank to date) in Kyushu. His KK 4th victory came in his last bout, over the aforementioned Kazafuzan on Day 14. More than half of the Makushita rikishi ranked above him went make-koshi this basho, which hopefully bodes well for a place in the Makushita-joi and being within striking distance of a sekitori promotion with a strong showing in January. Gambare Shiratsuka!!!
Gusoyama 104 Posted November 23, 2008 An astounding game by my boys this basho! Takanoyama "only" got a 4-3, but that was at his highest rank so far, and looks to get to ms10(?) for next basho. Daiseiho got an incredible 6-1, his best basho yet, and will have his highest rank by far in Hatsu. I hope for more winning records for my guys in the next year. Asojima 2,874 Posted November 23, 2008 My two guys started strong, but kind of fizzled out at the end. Hitachigo at Sd38E started at 4-1, but dropped his last two. He had his second consecutive KK, and should get back to near his career high of Sd23 for Hatsu. Homarefuji started at 2-1, but only managed to get one more win. His 3-4 at Ms33E is his first MK. His post-collegiate career started fast with two yushos in his first 3 bashos. He is now meeting the more experienced rikishi in makushita, and has done a predictable slowdown. Hatsu may be a career-defining basho for both of them.
Raishu 208 Posted November 24, 2008 Okay, this time half asleep/ half awake: Shibuya (Ms8w): [2-5] - To be honest, I ecpected him to end 3-4 or 2-5 after the last KK streak. I hope he comes back stronly in January. Minami (Ms23e): [5-2] - Too strong for mid-Makushita, too inexperienced for the MS Joi-jin. Kainomiya (Jd61e): [4-3] - He hasn't been ranked that high so far, but still got KK. Ironically, he deafeated another adoptee of mine for the positive result. Akinokawa (Jd64w): [3-4] - He lost his 7th bout against Kainomiya. Akinoyama (Jd83w): [5-2] - His two losses were against former Sandanme Rikishi (Wakaoki and Kei). Let's wait and see how he will do in upper Jonidan. Takanomiya (Jd92e): [4-3] - His KK is to be valued a bit higher than Akinoyama's 5-2 since he beat two former aging Sandanme Rikishi. Kinunonami (Jd120e): [5-2] - He took a basho off and came back with a solid result. ->>> 4 KK's and 2 MK's. Well done, guys! B-)
Manekineko 200 Posted November 24, 2008 Kotokonjo mk-d again, 3-4 in jonokuchi. Not good, but that's my boy. Tentative adoptee Nekomata also bombed 2-5. For his sake, maybe I should unadopt him...
