Kintamayama 47,140 Posted October 1, 2003 Musashimaru has begun full-scale keiko yesterday. He had 10 bouts with Buyuuzan, Kakizoe and others, and won 9. "His sideways movement has improved considerably , although the wrist still isn't completely healed. I think he should lose some weight. I'd like for him to pick up the pace from here on. In any case, he's just gotta do it!," said Musashigawa Oyakata. "Pain? I still don't know. It's only the first day of keiko!", said Musashimaru. Although his moves looked sharper than in recent times, no holding of the mawashi with the left hand has been observed. Former rikishi -short term Oyakata -turned singer Daishi had his new "dohyo-iri"-- his first "Dinner-show" performance at a hotel in Tokyo. 500 people turned out, among them Shikoroyama Oyakata (ex- Terao) and other Sumo personalities. He sang 9 songs, ranging from jinku to rap to opera to musicals to pop. Daishi, who tasted a different type of excitement than the one he was used to on the dohyo, said: " Although I've only just begun (Bacharach/David) I'd love to someday perform on NHK's prestigious New Year Special (hint..hint) and perhaps participate in an Opera-Musical. My biggest dream is to become popular abroad as well."

Manekineko 200 Posted October 1, 2003 Well, the suit could be less dazzling, but othervise, best of luck to Daishi. I'll even buy his CD when/if it comes out, to give him international support. (nudge, nudge, wink, wink)
