Before Mitakeumi's match, NHK commentator said that ozeki run was over for him.
-
He said that in Russia he will work in a job "related to sport events" thanks to an acquaitance of him. Tomorrow will be his danpatsu-shiki and he will return to Russia in late October. https://www.hochi.co.jp/sports/sumo/20180921-OHT1T50063.html

Congratulations, Hakuhou-daiyokozuna! He even knows how to give decent interviews!

Another live streaming, with good velocity: NK .

To some extent, that's like the shinitai rule

Tochi seems to have real problems with his right leg. He almost fell down in the tachiai.
-
It's not only a lack of stamina. His waist was too high in the last bouts. That's why I think the injuries in his legs are worse than most people think, and he will not recover in one day. OTOH, Kisenosato seems simply rusty, not injured, so he will maintain the physical level that has allowed him to win almost all bouts this basho. And mentally I think he is still very motivated and with good fighting spirit, much more than Tochinoshin.

I think the result of Kise-Tochi is clear. Tochi is much less genki, both physically and mentally, and will lose. He is probably badly injured.

Welcome

If I were a rikishi fighting Oorora, I would be affraid of injuring him. With all that weight, his ukemi ability is almost non-existent.

Hi all! Another long time reader here that finally decided to register and post. I'm interested in sumo from 2002, when I went to Japan to do a PhD at Hiroshima University. The second week there a Mexican student invited me to a see the training of his sumo club and I finally joined :P At that time all club members were foreigners (and all Spanish speakers, including one from Morocco) but the next year some Japanese students also joined (also Spanish speakers :P). I'm here in the West Japan University Championship (don't remember the year, maybe 2005): I'm the skinny one :P After starting sumo, I lost a lot of weight, like 30 kg in 3 months or so, and never regained them. Here one of our female members: That's actually a postcard we made to recruit new members. Here is another one (this guy is steeping on an art work in a museum):

The sumo manga I like most is "Aa Harimanada". I don't know if it has been translated to English. I even love more his precuel "Isao", but it's not really about sumo (or, at least, not "official" sumo but "street-fight like" sumo :P). https://www.google.es/search?q=ああ播磨灘&source=lnms&tbm=isch&sa=X&ved=0ahUKEwi65eGnvr3dAhVLqaQKHWArDhcQ_AUICigB&biw=1366&bih=654

You can try lucha canaria or lucha leonesa if you live near these places:

Also, you can find some one-person exercises here: http://www.sumo.or.jp/IrohaKnowledge/kihon_dousa/ (it can also be downloaded as pdf and printed)
