This is an older version of the first one. I don't know if the lyrics are different. The first one shows the new location of Miyagino Beya. This one shows the old location. I loved how they got one of the rikishi from Miyagino Beya to participate in their video!

That's correct that the revenue from the TV broadcast rights is not insignificant. However, how much are they losing from the loss of ticket sales? 11,000 seats X 15 days = ??

I suspect by May there will be a government directive in effect that will prevent the Basho from taking place. Even if the option is there, I still wonder if the NSK would want to go forward with it. They would be losing the revenue from 11,000 tickets X 15 days. I got the impression that the Haru Basho only went forward because --- 1) there was no government edict forbidding it --- and 2) everyone was already in Osaka, had already paid for their accommodations in Osaka and transportation costs from Tokyo as well as the rent for the venue. Had they known prior to leaving Tokyo that there would be a decision to omit spectators due to the increased numbers of coronavirus cases, I suspect the whole basho would have been cancelled. The only money coming in was from the TV broadcast plus some kensho.

Also, on ebay, you have an option that might help you. You can do a search for --- BBM Sumo Trading Card Takamisakari 2004 #14. When it responds that there is nothing found, there is a box you can check (I think it says "Saved Search"). If anyone lists it in the future, you will receive an email notifying you of the listing! This has helped me several times. You would need to set up a separate "Saved Search" for each of the 3 cards. Be sure to put in the card # and rikishi's name as well as the year (just like I did above). The "Saved Search" doesn't expire but you can discontinue it at any time. I also recommend that you contact every ebay seller of OLD BBM sumo trading cards, no matter which country they are in, and ask them for help. If you do a general Google search for the cards, you might find a Blog that you could write to. Are there stores in your city or nearby larger cities that might carry the cards? What is your price limit? Assuming the cards are/were manufactured in Japan, are there any clubs there that you could join? If you don't speak Japanese, is there anyone in the Facebook BBM club that does and who act as a go-between? I know that Takamisakari is still well known so he might still have a fan club, either in the US or more likely in Japan. You could join his fan club and ask the members for help. Would either one of the other two still have fan clubs? The name Tamaasuka sounds familiar but not Bushuyama. Good luck!

I checked Exil's Profile page & it shows the last time he visited Sumo Forum was April 4, 2017. That can't be right because he posted in the Games section on March 7.

I'm not going to be of much help (sorry) but one of the other admins would probably be able to help you or if not, they could possibly reach Exil & ask for his help. How did you try to contact Exil? Three days ago, Hakkaku said, "May will be very difficult". I agree with Christopher that that phrase is a polite Japanese way of saying that there will be no Basho in May. Robnplunder's conclusion is, I believe, spot on. "No Basho for sure, televised or not." However, I disagree with the last sentence where he says there is no need to announce it any time soon. Hakkaku's statement from three days ago pretty much says it all.

Thanks for this information! How does a person get a less than excellent reputation? Obviously, if they get reported all the time and are always stirring things up, I can certainly see where that could cause their reputation to go down. But what else affects it?

I was just promoted from Makushita to Juryo. The magic number for me was 200 posts. One thing I AM curious about is how our "Total Reputation" is determined. Yours is 522, mine is 239. Your profile will tell you if yours is "excellent" or less than "excellent". (Mine is "excellent"). I don't want to ask how they decided that mine is "excellent" because they might realize their error and change it!! lol

One of my friends suggested "THE GREAT SUMO VOID". Could that be translated into Japanese or are there some great Japanese words for "nothingness" or "emptiness"? So the word/combo-word could be "Ozumo (plus Japanese word for nothingness or emptiness)".

Personally, I think we should find a poetic JAPANESE word or combo-word rather than German. Can someone who knows Japanese come up with something? And since things don't suddenly end after Senshuraku as has been previously mentioned, I think we should come up with a word or combo-word that covers the period BETWEEN Senshuraku AND the next Basho OR Banzuke. This word or combo-word should reflect a feeling of great sadness or letdown or longing, and could even be funny. I suppose he could retire as planned and then come back in 2021 & perform that special Yokozuna Dohyo-Iri ceremony that (I think) retired Yokozuna can do. I don't know the name of this ceremony but I have seen photos of aging Yokozuna perform it. The zig-zag things that hang from the tsuna are red, as I recall.

This may have already been posted but per Japan Times, Chiyomaru was tested at the hospital Monday for the coronavirus and he tested negative so the Basho will go on.

That's something I don't understand. When it involves an event such as the Basho, it seems to me the prudent thing to do would be to test Chiyomaru for the coronavirus. If he's not tested and it turns out he has the coronavirus, he could potentially affect the health of many others. If others subsequently became infected, their treatment would be delayed. That's not being proactive.
