  1. I noticed it while watching the live broadcast but I still don't know if Takakeisho fell because of his knee injury or if tripping over the sandal was the cause. Personally, I think it was the sandal, but now I'm concerned that as a result of being tripped, it re-aggravated his knee injury.
  2. Not sure if anyone has already posted the Asanoyama/Goeido bout where the hapless Gyoji Tamajiro took a dive. It's initially off-camera but you can hear the thud at 2:30. Poor guy!
  3. I finally figured that out! He DID win his bout against Yutakayama and is 5-1 but in Juryo, not Makuuchi.
  4. Oh-oh!! Did I make a mistake? I thought Takanosho won his bout.
  5. Oh, this is getting to be really exciting! Okinoumi 6-0 with SEVEN nipping at his heels with 5-1 -------- Ishiura, Enho, Meisei, Miyogyru, Mitakeumi, Endo and Takakeisho!
  6. Hi again, Profomisakari, I hate to keep bringing up problems (or maybe it's not a problem), but I think I guessed 3 correctly, not 2. I guessed #7.B, #14.A and #18.B correctly. I guessed wrong on #20. Enho is on the Game Chart TWICE, #14 and #15. Was that a mistake? Can you tell me what TB1 and TB2 mean? And how do you determine what a player's TB number is? What does the sentence "By TB2 Wamahada leads before Chisayama because he has given his tip rather" mean?
  7. Can someone clarify the number of bouts that qualified for this game on Day 1? Did Enho vs Onosho count? (Enho is on the game chart twice). I thought that there were 4 bouts, not 3. I thought #7 (Shodai vs Tamawashi), #14 (Enho vs Onosho), #18 (Toyonoshima vs Tsurugisho) and # 20 (Tochiozan vs Yutakayama) were all on the Day 1 Torikumi. Please correct me if I am wrong.
  8. Oh, I'm excited! The Torikumi for Day 1 has match-ups for # 7 (Shodai vs Tamawashi), #14 (Enho vs Onosho), #18 ( Toyonoshima vs Tsurugisho) and #20 (Tochiozan vs Yutakayama)!!
  9. So if I understand correctly, if Tochinoshin is kyujo for the entire basho, then "X" would not be appropriate and would be counted as a wrong answer. Correct? However, if Tochinoshin goes kyujo on day 3, for example, and he had not yet been scheduled to wrestle Endo, then "X" would count as a correct answer. Correct? The last sentence is confusing to me. Does that mean if a bout is actually scheduled between Endo & Tochinoshin, and on the eve or the morning of the bout, Tochinoshin announces he is kyujo, then Endo would get 21 points according to the rules of this game? And does that mean that any players who guessed Endo would win will get 21 points added to their score? Thanks for helping me understand this game!
  10. Oh, I thought it referred to people's personalities!! lol I'm surprised I'm not the most disagreeable by your definition. I'm not sure I used "X" correctly. I used it because I think Tochinoshin will be kyujo for all or most of the basho, so I am predicting that there will be no bout between Endo & him as a result. Is that the correct use of "X"?
  11. What is the criteria for an agreeable player vs a disagreeable player?
  12. Tiger Tanaka, this is for you!!!!! Fascinating documentary that goes into detail on the making of "You Only Live Twice". The sumo wrestling scenes are very brief but it's stated that the bouts were real, that the wrestlers wouldn't do them unless they were, and that they gathered 8,000 people together for the Sumo Grand Championship. They also indicated that the audience sound was the actual soundtrack of the audience (watching the sumo bouts). The sumo wrestling scenes start at 20:45 and end at 21:24.

  14. Hi Andonishiki, You don't know me but I want to wish you a very Happy 104th Birthday!!! And I wish you many more!!! I'm sure we are all wondering what your secret is to living such a long life. Is it living in Bora Bora, Tahiti? Is it your passion for sumo wrestling? If you have time, I would love to hear back from you. I'm sure you are a very interesting man. Foremost in my mind is the question of how long have you been a fan of sumo wrestling? If you have been a fan for many years, it would be absolutely fascinating to read about your memories and your impressions of how sumo wrestling has changed over the decades. If you choose to summon up your memories, I for one, and I know there would be many others, would feel very privileged to learn from you. In the meantime, I hope you are having a great time on your special day!!
  15. Interesting!
  16. This is pretty dumb. It has a pretty fake Japanese sumo wrestler who fights Curly Joe of the 3 Stooges. The Japanese promoter gets excited about the idea of holding a World Sumo Championship in San Francisco. There's only one bout and the ring is actually a boxing ring. If you are a fan of the 3 Stooges, you might get a kick out of this. The funniest line was when the bout wasn't going well, the Japanese promoter smacked his forehead and muttered, "Oy vay!" The sumo segment runs from 1:00:24 until 1:11:45. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Y_0YVD0kpHU Youtube doesn't allow embedding of this video. If the link doesn't work, do a search on Youtube for --- The 3 Stooges Go Around the World in a Daze (1963).
  17. I am puzzled because I could not find this Discovery Channel documentary in English. This documentary was obviously originally made in English but it's been dubbed into Russian. Does anyone know what happened to the original non-dubbed English language version?
  18. The following is a video about a TV show host, Toure, who likes to try anything once. This time it's sumo. Even though he is only 170 lbs, he's eager to immerse himself in the world of sumo. He meets up with 700-lb Emmanuel (Manny) Yarborough, who was the 1995 Amateur Sumo World Champion, who tells Toure that he will get him ready in 4 days so he can enter a sumo tournament!! He is introduced to Yoshisada Yunezuka, who has an 8th degree black belt in judo. He has his own dojo in New Jersey where he teaches Toure all about sumo. Toure ultimately enters the sumo tournament & fights 4 bouts. At first I thought this video was new because it was uploaded in April of this year. However, I found out that Yarborough passed away in 2015 and Yunezuka passed away in 2014. In further checking, the TV show "I'll Try Anything Once" came out in 2008. I enjoyed it because Toure showed true interest in sumo and really applied himself and learned a lot about himself in the process.
  19. Here is a video of 2 English-speaking Finnish guys on another one of their "Madventures", this time in an episode from 2009 called "Nippon". They go to a heya and attempt to train with the rikishi. Humorous but silly. One said that by wearing a mawashi he was hoping to kick some rikishi butt! lol See 14:50 to 17:34 for the sumo segment.
  20. This video was a World War 2 propaganda documentary from 1945. It has some great vintage sumo footage in it so I decided to post it. The documentary itself is offensive. Just jump past it & go to 44:07 for the beginning of the sumo footage. The sumo footage stops at 44:16 & there's more sumo footage at 45:00 which ends at 45:36. It would be very interesting to know who the Yokozuna is in this documentary!!
  21. Oh great, so you were able to see it today? I hope so! I went poking around on Youtube again & I did come up with something --- The full movie dubbed in Thai!! LOL Here it is --- The sumo scene starts at 48:06 & ends at 51:35.
  22. Oh, how frustrating! Do you have any way to watch the whole movie? That's the only thing I can think of --- to find another way to watch the whole movie & then skipping to the sumo scene. (I don't know anything about a US/VPN).
  23. I'm not sure I understand, Akinomaki, when you say "the video is shown as unavailable". Are you referring to the "Memoirs of a Geisha" clip I posted or something else?
