Honestly, Goeido only had three double digit kk since his Ozeki promotion three years ago, but six mk. I do not think that he is worrying about those comments or a possible Yokozuna promotion at all (maybe he will one day if two or three of our current Yokozuna should retire soon, but right now I am quite sure he is content with getting rid of the kadoban tag).

Thanks Itachi! It is still weird NOT to see Randomitsuki's name up there, though.

Nothing, it is already too late to drop as he saved himself yesterday with his win (see day 10 comments). -
No, I think the difference is due to draws. Onishiki e.g. never had a fusen match as a yokozuna, but had three draws. Fusen losses are actually considered as losses in your search query. See for example Tamanishiki who is listed with 5 kinboshi losses while in fact he only had 4 with the 5th loss being a fusen loss. Edit: And Harumafuji indeed gave away 39 kinboshi. He had three fusen losses against maegashira and one hansoku loss which is also not considered as a kinboshi.

Too lazy to check, but could it be fusen losses against Maegashira (those are not considered kinboshi so you would have to correct your table manually)?

Very sorry to hear this. If I may make a suggestion: Why not forget about your algorithms for one basho and try a completely different approach? Just go by your (very experienced) gut feeling and see what happens - I am sure you would a) do great in terms of competitiveness and b) only need 10-15 minutes a day for your picks instead of 2 hours.

Promotion/Demotion and Yusho discussion Nagoya 2017

Well, banzuke making goes by numbers, not by anticipating whether a rikishi might be cannon fodder at his new rank. Besides, just one year ago Tamawashi sure appeared to be cannon fodder in those ranks, too - it's never too late to start peaking, certainly not at age 28.. -

Well, thanks to you for providing SG this basho - and thanks to the anonymous gamer who made his picks early! :)

Thanks, that's pretty helpful! Looking at Higonojo's record manually once more, I still count five basho (2011.01; 2012.03; 2013.03; 2014.07; 2015.01) in which he fell to make-koshi from 3-3, so I guess your search is not 100 % accurate. Well in one of those basho, 2012.03, his final bout already was on day 12 so that will be the reason in that case. Anyway, it is pretty obvious that he became a sekitori mainly due to his strong nerves.

It would be a shame to finish my FAWL career with the worst score on the final day of the game - thus I keep my finger's crossed that Neko will take over! Thanks, Fuseigou and Sakana, for this wonderful game idea and for providing FAWL all those years!
-
When looking at some of the rikishi profiles on Sumo Reference, I realized that both Kizenryu and Higonojo have pretty good records for their final bouts when standing at 3-3: Higonojo managed kachi koshi 19 times (only falling to 3-4 five times), while Kizenryu's record is 9-2. I have not figured out how to do a search on this, but possibly someone can help: Who are the lower division rikishi with the strongest nerves?
-
I would very much like to continue playing - and I would be very grateful if you took over FAWL, Neko! Thanks, Sakana, I am looking forward to the final basho of the original FAWL era!

Invitation came too late for me, sorry. Good luck to all participants - and thanks for taking care of SG and PTYW once more, Itachi!
-
Just to let you know: I also did send an entry about 26 hours ago. Hopefully you will be able to recover all mails! I am very sorry to read that you need to stop administering FAWL - I am keeping my fingers crossed that someone will take over. Anyway, thanks for 10 years of providing that great game; and for one more basho at least!
-
As I do not see an invitation for Hatsu 2017, I assume that SG and PTYW are cancelled? I hope this does not mean that they are gone for good? :(
