Aiming to start de-geiko from today, "as early as possible", says he. 2.Kasugaou- got a new keshomawashi from "Samsung"-first time Korean keshomawashi. talk of "bridging past conflicts" and a new dawn for Korea-Japan relations, which are very charged. Hmmm.. thought there would be more, but no.. Kintamayama 47,128 Posted April 17, 2003 (edited) April 17th- 1. Nakamura -beya has started an open-university campaign for its Sandanme- and- under rikishi-12 in all, plus a gyoji. The goal: High school graduation.They have acquired 6 PCs for this. Seeing that with jungyos and regional tournaments, it is physically difficult for a rikishi to get a proper education, they are going for an online education, where each rikishi has his own password and can log-in from anywhere. All this, at the expense of their free time. This is the first time that a heya as a whole has done this. In the past, former Yokozuna Asahifuji had done this successfully,( although I'm not sure it was done by computer, probably through correspondence ala-Open University.) Kitanoumi Rijicho is keeping a close watch on this experiment, and positive results may prompt him to try it with other heyas. 2. Kyokutenhou is hoping to finally become Sekiwake for the first time this year. He is going out for degeiko and sweating it out. A good record this coming Basho may well do it for him.
