Hoshifransu 0 Posted January 30, 2003 Sorry, since some days, I jus' can't stop talking about sumotalk.com web site, but I really luv all their great comments they put on it : intelligent analysis, prudent talks with a spice of, how could I say, "mastered relevance" and more about the slides of sumo. They're not consensual and I luv that and with no polemics, great job ! (Personally, I've always been far beyond to be consensual when I was talking about sumo or when I was talking about anything else, so I'm not consensual but I can't avoid to fall into polemics, and they have pretty that skill to suggest and not to provoke, just great) So, from today they talk about Asashoryu's promotion with a good article including this : " (...) Yubiquitoyama 4 Posted January 30, 2003 Well, well, well, after the accusations against Chiyotenzan from a former rikishi of Kokonoe-beya (accusing Chiyotenzan to have shooted him with an air gun) it seems shooting someone with an air gun is a very strange habit, practice into sumo heya's world ... I wonder... I suspect that particular piece of rumour has actually originated just by the case of Chiyotenzan (someone confused the two stories) and then grew into almost believability when the rumours reached the news... It does sound a bit fishy at the least... I also wonder if not the rumours about him beating youngsters and seniors have been slightly confused with the FACT that he is very aggressive even in training, making other rikishi afraid of training with him, because they sometimes turn out injured and completely beaten (but as a part of the training). I suppose the two can be hard to tell apart though, but it does seem almost enough to start the rumours... Note that I'm no particular fan of Asashoryu, and I appreciate the possibility that the rumours is true, but I'm also somewhat sceptical to the way that kind of rumours are usually created... I will not be a complete believer until Asashoryu too is accused in court for youngster bashing (which of course I hope he isn't involved in).
Fujisan 533 Posted February 4, 2003 Well I dont care what sour grapes come out about Asa,he's gonna be a great Yokozuna. One of the greatest! Even if all the storys are true,Im sure them sort of things go on a whole lot more than the powers that be will ever publicly admit, even in the stables of those self same former Rikishi. Jesinofuji 11 Posted February 4, 2003 I was delighted when Asashoryu clinched Yokozuna. I think he certainly has what it takes to be a great Yokozuna. His technique is better than anyone else out right now. It looks like the Moose is sitting out in Osaka, Kaio and the wolf pup are expected to make it it seems. But I still like Asa's chances in March, I see him going into the last third of the tourney with a win lead against the rest, and sticking in out in the end. :-D :-D :-D
