Sumo on TV

Recommended Posts

There is a program which very much seems to be about sumo on the German channel DSF (at least I think it's german) :

DSF   9/4 22:45 (CET):  Reportage, Die Sumo-Ringer.

DSF   18/4 00:00 (CET):  Reportage, Die Sumo-Ringer.(probably rerun)

And once again, these are the times for Haru basho at Eurosport:

Tuesday, 15 April, 18-19 CET, Day 1-3

Wednesday, 16 April, 18-19 CET, Day 4-6

Thursday, 17 April, 18-19 CET, Day 7-9

Friday, 18 April, 18-19 CET, Day 10-12

Saturday, 19 April, 18-19 CET, Day 13-15

Ah, still a week time to finally figure out how to record them straight onto hard drive. (Punk rocker...)

I could not find any info on their website on this, but I guess it is a rerun of a documentation on the European Championships in 2001 or 2002. I have seen it back then. The German sumotori were quite arrogant when commenting on their opponents. Also it was more about the effect how successful the German Sumotori are in contrary to to the Japanese. Of course there was no word that they only face the Japanese amateurs...

Call me old-fashioned, but I actually prefer watching videos on VCR tapes and TVs. That includes movies, cartoons and bashos. Somehow I never found the idea of sitting and staring at the monitor appealing. Most of my friends disagree with me, of course. But I just can't sit and watch a film on my PC. Even the advantages of random access can't convince me to do so.

Be that as it may, one can of course arrange it so that the movie or whatever is on the computer, but is watched on the TV. I actually recommend those with a TV out to watch the live feed on the TV, because (at least for me), it is better quality in full screen mode than on my computer (for whatever reason).

No new messages can be posted to Sumo Related Questions. I thought I already configured it so but it seems I only prevented creation of new topics. :-D

Moved to Ozumo Discussions.

Are things like TiVo and ReplayTV popular in Europe?

I've never seen them "in flesh" nor heard anyone use them but I suppose those kind of devices might be available in Europe. I was referring earlier to my PC's internal TV card and its unbelievably lousy software. >:-D

I have a lousy 14" TV and a passable 19" monitor. Which one would you use to watch movies? :-D

So both the TV itself and the software for the computer TV card are lousy? That's a bad situation ;)

I actually share QttP preference for watching on TV, but that's partially because my TV is much bigger than my computer monitor :-(

Well, the picture is quite OK. The thing just looks like it's made by a fourth world company in 1953. It's been adequate for me since 1998 when the last one broke down in the middle of World Cup and I panicked. (Being unsure...)

Last Saturday I visited my nephew and saw his projector with its 80 inch picture. He plans to install it to their living room eventually to get as big a picture as possible. After that my puny telly looked pretty 1830ish... (Sign of disapproval)

BTW, this thread is digressing. Let's continue it in Off-Topic if needed. (Enjoying a beer...)
