They do work. You just need to manually change the encoding of the page to Japanese (Auto-Select). At least that's what works for me.

I dont know wether its the same thing but in my book of Sumo Asahifuji is nicknamed "The Sea Slug" and Asashio is called "Big boy," I'm not sure where they originate though.

I ate a sea slug once, it was weird, not very flavorful.

Well I was close Sea cucumber/sea slug,they probably taste the same and I was right about Asashio aswell,we agree on the "big" part at least.
