Yarimotsu sneaks across the line thanks to the TB bonus. The banzuke for Aki 2025: chishafuwaku (Ye 7-8) Y --- Asashosakari (O2w 10-5 J) O1 Sakura (O2e 9-6) Yarimotsu (O1w 8-7) O2 Holleshoryu (O1e kosho) Bunbukuchagama (M1e 11-4 Y) S Athenayama (Ke 9-6) Fashiritētā (Kw 8-7) K Masutarida (M4e 9-6) Profomisakari (M2e 8-7) M1 Oskanohana (Sw 7-8) Jejima (M3w 8-7) M2 ryafuji (Se 6-9) Hakuryuho (M1w 7-8) M3 WAKATAKE (M4w 7-8) Ryoshishokunin (M2w 6-9) M4 Pandaazuma (M3e 6-9) An unfortunate return to earth after the lofty heights of the Natsu basho yusho for yokozuna chishafuwaku. I'm afraid I will have to put him on intai watch as that was the third MK in the last five tournaments (all 7-8, rough); another losing record in Aki to make it 4-in-6 will spell the end of his time atop the LKS rankings. A fairly emphatic return to the second-highest rank for Asashosakari after last basho's promotion, with his third consecutive yusho or jun-yusho score. Sakura was kadoban but cleaned up her status easily, Yarimotsu and Holleshoryu are also in the clear for Aki. Nobody below ozeki came close to making a case for promotion this time, including last basho's demoted ozeki Oskanohana who has left the named ranks entirely for now. Bunbukuchagama can become ozeki next time out, but it's going to take another very strong score as there's no support for the Nagoya yusho by his Natsu result (which was a makekoshi). 1 2
