Akinomaki 41,186 Posted May 9 (edited) 2916 kensho have been applied for this time, most ever were 2955 for Hatsu. A change in the envelopes: so far half of what the rikishi get from the 70 000 Yen the sponsors pay per kensho was in it, 30 000 Yen, now only 10 000, the rest joins the savings account for the rikishi, like the other 30 000. Lately I took hours to put it in the envelopes: with only one banknote instead of 3, the yobidashi have time for other things again. Same fabricated security reason was also named as something that needed improvement. Rather the rikishi can now no longer give a large sum/a great meal to the lower ranked rikishi, which was a custom. Top in personal kensho is by a large margin Onosato: 310, followed by Hoshoryu with just 158, Kotozakura 145, Oho 126, kensho miracle Oshoma 120, Midorifuji 113, Kirishima 109. 15 new sponsors, Churanoumi gets some from a real estate company in Naha - a rare kensho from a company from Okinawa, the last 10 years there was none. o new banners o o o o I'm always amused by the sausage from Nipponham, that had a danpatsu-shiki a while ago: Schau Essen - esp. since I'm from Essen, a city of many fairs: Schau comes close to that o Edited May 9 by Akinomaki
Tsurukame 10 Posted May 9 Off-topic, but now I'm wondering whether we've ever run across each other and just don't know it... Another interpretation of those words could be "Look! Food!", and this is conjuring up some quite amusing mental images, too. Stomachs grumbling all around the dohyo, and rikishi instinctively looking around for a pot of chanko-nabe... Akinomaki 41,186 Posted May 18 (edited) Onosato's packs are nearly as big as the yokozuna pack in the last bout, when he's in the penultimate bout, and else also big enough to stay in front for a while with a 2 pack lead - they are regularly Morinaga-sho enhanced - now Hoshoryu at last managed to get in front again. With another loss he may drop back to 2nd - in the end one loss more should still have him finish no. 1. Nobody else can come even close to these 2, Kotozakura hadn't been able to reach 3rd place till now, but that spot is reserved for him. One loss was enough for co-leader Hakuoho to drop out of the rankings - and Aonishiki can only enter them if he wins against Y/O Day 8 https://www.sumo.or.jp/pdf/honbasho/kansen/torikumi/2505_08.pdf 263: Hoshoryu 248: Onosato 96: Kotozakura 92: Oho 70: Wakatakakage 56: Abi 54: Oshoma 51: Daieisho 48: Atamifuji 44: Kirishima Day 7 pics Hoshoryu o o o o Onosato in the penultimate bout o o Aonishiki o Edited May 18 by Akinomaki

Akinomaki 41,186 Posted May 22 (edited) Hoshoryu mustn't lose another bout, not just the one on day 15, else Onosato ends up top. Kotozakura needs at least one more win to ensure 3rd place. The kensho list for tomorrow shows for the last bout about 60 (and it will get the Morinaga-sho), the winner will finish above 500 - and the top 2 together close to 1000. For the Kotozakura bout 40, for Kirishima about 20 and for Oho about 13 kensho: Kotozakura will finish 5th if he loses and Oho wins. Kirishima will finish 3rd with a win or if Kotozakura loses. Akinomaki 41,186 Posted May 25 The proper order restored - except for the soon sole but minor ozeki, Oho won and delegated him to 5th place. Daieisho with that big ozeki pack could also get over 100 like Oshoma managed. Oshoma as new sanyaku will make another jump in the personal kensho rankings next basho. 8 above 100 this basho, 10th place at 75 - the kensho flood era continues.
