Nishikigi picked 返り咲く kaerizaku - bloom again: comeback (usually to sanyaku) - as his aim for next year - he didn't mention sanyaku but was more moderate: taking care not to drop to juryo and one by one aim for higher

Yeah, 'bad' is relative here.
It was distinctly below average for him, ruining his otherwise perfect double-digit KK record.
