Seiyashi 4,108 Posted January 5, 2022 (edited) Wakanohana's duck is quacking again when he went for a hot pick last basho in Daieisho, who eventually barely got his KK. Considering Daieisho had been struggling ever since his yusho, and Terunofuji is almost always the man to beat now, one might almost think that Wakanohana is now less interested in picking surefire wins than picking an "up-and-comer" rikishi whom he feels will catch on fire in the upcoming basho. In that case, Hatsu should be fun given it's traditionally a wildcard basho, so almost half the division are eligible candidates methinks. Welcome to Wakanohana's Death Note - Hatsu 2022. Seiyashi 4,108 Posted January 5, 2022 (edited) I'm thinking if Wakanohana is going to go for something off-colour, Abi's the pick he'll go for. Maybe Hoshoryu or Endo, if he wants to be particularly spicy, but Abi is within striking range of a sanyaku return, he's hungry, and much improved. Kaminariyuki 500 Posted January 6, 2022 I haven't really kept up with his picks. I sort of recall him doing back and forth between favorites and semi-long shots. Seiyashi 4,108 Posted January 23, 2022 Regrettably the poll has to be voided (or left in eternal limbo) because Abema seems to have ditched the Wakanohana prediction segment.
