Indeed Asasekiryu won 4 out of 6 bouts against Taikai including 3 times in a row! He was very happy about that. There have been occasions where Taikai has been very strong in training prior to basho only to crumple in honbasho bouts so perhaps now that he seems to be in somewhat shaky condition yet he can peak during honbasho.
