Asojima 2,874 Posted July 5, 2009 For the third consecutive year, Joey Chestnut beat out six time champion Takeru Kobayashi in the US Fourth of July hot-dog eating contest. Chestnut consumed a record 68 hot dogs in 10 minutes while Kobayashi could manage "only" 64 1/2. That is about eight pounds of meat plus the buns that enclose the dogs and enough water to keep it all moving down. Previous winning totals in the annual contest have been 1916 - 13, 2000 - 25 and 2005 - 49 (Kobayashi). The third place finisher this year came in at 55 hot dogs. Jakusotsu 6,056 Posted July 5, 2009 I wonder, do they keep it all in when the show is over?
Sasanishiki 57 Posted July 5, 2009 I wonder, do they keep it all in when the show is over? From the accounts that I've heard, I don't believe that Kobayashi does keep the food down, preferring instead to 'get rid of it' afterwards.
Gusoyama 104 Posted July 5, 2009 contrarily, Joey Chestnut said on the radio that he tends to keep it down, and goes off to drink afterwards.
