Kintamayama 47,171 Posted September 22, 2003 (edited) Although he did get the Kanto-sho, Sakari was angry in the shitaku-beya, after losing to Aminishiki on Senshuraku. A double-digit win would have sealed his promotion to Sekiwake. Now, he's not so sure. He answered the Sansho interview questions with " Yup","Yes", and "Gambarimasu", and was visibly teary-eyed. Back at the Shitaku-beys, though, he let loose."Where can you find an idiot who smiles after losing? It made me feel really sick!", he exploded. Then, "You call my shikiri a 'performance'. It's only my way of concentrating. Ceremony?? It's no ceremony. I am not a dubious person!!", he added. Being the most popular rikishi in Sumo at this time, he is beginning to feel the jealousy of other rikishi now. His opponent Aminishiki puckered up his lips and said " Well, I simply didn't want him to feel good", he said honestly. (I think I'm not getting this right-Ami-chan can't be saying this..anyone? セイケン(本名・加藤精彦)ばかりに、いい思いをさせたくなかった) Akebono Oyakata says:"Now that Sakari will become Sanyaku, he will be even more conspicuous, so he definitely has to overcome that keiko problem, huh? " He seemed to be worried about the upcoming Jungyo. "All I can do is go all out", said Takamisakari. Still, if he doesn't show the spirit he shows in Honbasho in keiko as well, we may see his tears again. http://www.yomiuri.co.jp/hochi/sports/sep/o20030921_10.htm Takamisakari , as tears go by, with his prize. Dejimasama 0 Posted September 23, 2003 Yeah it is getting a little out of hand. Seems like every other day we hear a report about him crying.
Takanobaka 0 Posted September 23, 2003 Yes and no.....crying has a very different cultural role there, though it probably would be better to see happy tears than tears of disappointment
Iwagakki 0 Posted September 23, 2003 And here I thought I was the only one that was starting to find it less appealing....
