Shikoroyama Oyakata (former Terao) will open his own heya next year. It will be situated in the Ryogoku area. The new deshi are being scouted for as we speak. Planned for the beginning of next year. It will be the 54th heya, and the first heya formed by brothers since Takanohana (current Futagoyama Oyakata) and Wakanohana I (Fujishima). "My shishou has agreed to release me in a friendly and pleasant way. I'm looking for obedient rikishi who don't give up easily. I'm not a big rikishi, so I'd love to train some big guys..", he said.

KaioU has not been doing any real keiko for the past week. His right upper arm is still injured. His left foot injury has healed. "I don't want to go all out in keiko for fear of injury. It's an important Basho for me. I don't really need any unnecessary injuries right now." he said. He's working hard on the mental side now. He went to keiko at Takasago to watch Asashouryuu. "If I won't get strong mentally, I may fall apart after a loss," he added. Entering the last stage of preparations, KaioU knows he has to rely on his mental strength so as not to fall apart.

There is a general feeling that if he gets 14 wins, he will get promoted, rijicho notwithstanding. He has Touki for day 1. "I won't know till I try. I wish I had done more keiko", he said. Till the end, no "authoritative' statements from KaioU. He is relying heavily on that unwritten "successive championship" rule of the YDC. Since its use, there has never been a case where an Oozeki with successive Yushos was not promoted. "The first half of the Basho is critical for me. I will strengthen my spirit". he summed up. If that happens, he will be able to "yorikiri" Kitanoumi Rijicho.

Kitao has been appointed "advisor" to Tatsunami-beya. "I've been away a long time from the Sumo World, so I have to re-familiarize myself with training methods etc. I would like to be a part of the Tatsunami-beya revival. I will be doing this free of charge", he said at a press conference at the heya.
