Doitsuyama 1,259 Posted January 25, 2003 Kinkaiyama got his kachi-koshi today and probably will be promoted to Makuuchi for the seventh time in his career. He really owns the Juryo division; this is his 16th basho ranked at Juryo and he has 13 kachi-koshi, 1 absence and 2 make-koshi (one of them was a 2-13 after the absence due to a severe injury). I guess he owns two records (but have not checked with statistics which I don't have): most promotions to Makuuchi and best difference between kachi-koshi and make-koshi in Juryo (13-3=10 if you count the absence as MK). Anyone here with a rikishi beating those numbers?
Yubiquitoyama 4 Posted January 25, 2003 I guess he owns two records (but have not checked with statistics which I don't have): most promotions to Makuuchi and best difference between kachi-koshi and make-koshi in Juryo (13-3=10 if you count the absence as MK). Anyone here with a rikishi beating those numbers? Don't know about the Juryo MK/KK difference, but it does sound quite astonishing. I doubt anyone has had a better one. Regarding Makunouchi promotions though, Oshio has the all-time lead with 13 in front of Onishiki with 12, Wakanokuni with 9 and a bunch of rikishi with 8. Of active rikishi though, Kinkaiyama will take the lead (assuming he gets a seventh promotion) in front of Aogiyama, Jumonji, Asanowaka and Daizen (well, he IS still active although possibly not for long...), all with 6 Mku promotions.
