Hashira 0 Posted July 7, 2003 it apeared on the webstream that his hair was tied in a very strange way, almost as if it wasn't tied at all. of course, it's very difficult to see anything in detail on the webstream, so i was wondering if anyone could shed light on this. Kotoseiya Yuichi 3 Posted July 7, 2003 His career is still so short his hair hasn't grown long enough to even do a chonmage (simple style of the toriteki), let alone a proper oichomage of the sekitori. That happens every now and then. I think Miyabiyama used to look similarly odd in 1998 or so.
Hashira 0 Posted July 8, 2003 after that first match with kokkai, i was thinking that futeno was going to be great to watch this basho, but now he is 0-3 and has been thoroughly unimpressive since that first day
Yubiquitoyama 4 Posted July 8, 2003 (edited) after that first match with kokkai, i was thinking that futeno was going to be great to watch this basho, but now he is 0-3 and has been thoroughly unimpressive since that first day Well, he was good against Kokkai and today he met Shimotori who in my opinion could do the very unusual and win a zensho Juryo yusho. And even though the match against Yotsukasa wasn't so good, Yotsukasa is a fine oshi-rikishi and shouldn't be underestimated. I don't think there is any need to worry yet, only after day 3, since Futen'o pretty much will have an easier ride throughout the basho from now on. If he's still winless on day 6 though...
