Kaio(U)?

Recommended Posts

What's with his name? Is it Kaio or KaioU as I've seen occasionally on these boards?

I'm confused (In a state of confusion...)

Just don't mix him up with Kaiho. (In a state of confusion...)

Which in effect IS Kaio because of the long o. When you hear "with an *insert letter here*" the first thing you do is add it to the end of the name. Kaio = Kaiou = Kaioh... technically I guess.

He does mean Kaiho actually...

And the h after a vowl is not really standard for long vowl either. I got very confused by a text before realizing that they used h after vowl as meaning a short vowl while a long one was phonetically described with a double vowl (although this was phonetic description for english readers, but not of Japanese, but generic names)...

I know he meant Kaiho...

What I meant was that if someone took the "Kaio with an h" to mean Kaioh, then it would make people think that it's a long o instead of Kaiho. I've seen subtitles depict "oh" as a long o.

I found it odd that on the first broadcast they listed sekiwake below yokozuna and above ozeki. Well, actually "oseki" as they claim. By now they really should do better... Oh, and I think they claimed in the same time that Asashoryu was the western yokozuna. (In a state of confusion...)

Well at least guys have something to watch. We here in the states can only dream of Eurosports coverage like this. (In a state of confusion...)

I'm a bit luckier... My university shows NHK during the week so I have been able to see the 1 hour show they do every day. Except for the weekend where the building's closed. Very annoying.

So are Eurosport actually showing the basho?
