Day 11. Lost in every single game. It's definitely been one of those years. GANBARIMASU

Rule proposal for future basho: Allow the selections to go beyond nine rikishi, so that if one becomes involved in a kyujo bout or if someone fighting someone outside of juryo is accidentally chosen, they can simply be removed from the selections by the scorer. Then, stop scoring once nine valid results are obtained. (Essentially, allow backup picks, numbered 10, 11, 12, etc.)

For once, a strong day, with losses only in Quad and TUG. (No bet in Odd.) Yushos seem mostly out of hand everywhere (except TUG, but that's not Masters). Unless there's something I'm missing in pre-bashos. GANBARIMASU

Day 9 Mitoryu Toyonoshima Kyokutaisei Tobizaru Kotoyuki Terutsuyoshi Hakuyozan Daishoho Aminishiki

Wins in SG, Quad, and ISP. Back to my usual 4-4 in Toto. Looking like a fitting ending for this year. I'm not sure if I see points anywhere. GANBARIMASU

Day 8: Yago Jokoryu Toyonoshima Wakatakakage Hakuyozan Mitoryu Kyokutaisei Akiseyama Tsurugisho

If it weren't for the tiebreak win in SG, it would have been a complete sweep of losses. Including TUG, for the first day this basho. Speaking of which... Simon: I have one tiebreak win out of 3. GANBARIMASU

m2e Tochiozan vs. m1w Hokutofuji Hokutofuji is listed as the choice, for 20 points, both of which must be mistaken. This error appears in the list here and in the entry form.

Day 7: Toyonoshima Tobizaru Kyokutaisei Enho Hakuyozan Ishiura Yago Kotoeko Akiseyama

And, of course, I lose in Toto. A mixed day overall, but the most bizarre mixed bag in a single day goes to SG. The Panda and I, separately, had 6-6 matches. I lost mine on on tiebreak. He won his on tiebreak. But, somehow, I won the Baka Cup on tiebreak. GANBARIMASU

Looking at the pre-bashos, it's rather clear that I'm counting on Odd for my one yusho for the year. (Okay, fine, I SHOULD count Toto, too.)

We both know what usually happens when someone takes an early lead! ;)

Day 6: Toyonoshima Daishoho Kyokutaisei Tobizaru Shimanoumi Hakuyozan Endo Kotoyuki Kotoeko

A great day 5 in SG, with a very strong 6. Squeaked by in Bench on a tiebreak. Somehow, 4-1 in Toto. Above-average day in DST. Now back-to-back wins in Quad, which actually puts me in the top 50% at 2-3. Still 0-5 in TTT, but that's really not THAT bad this basho. Also won in the Baka Cup. I haven't checked the day 4 results for that yet. GANBARIMASU

Day 5: Kyokutaisei Toyonoshima Tobizaru Hakuyozan Enho Akiseyama Terutsuyoshi Kotoeko Ishiura

Wins in Quad (for 1-3) and, again, somehow, Toto (for 3-1). And, as usual this basho, TUG, where I've had the yusho lead for a few days now. Losses everywhere else. Fell to 5th in Odd. GANBARIMASU

Day 4: Toyonoshima Kotoeko Tomokaze Enho Jokoryu Chiyonoumi Wakatakakage Terutsuyoshi Ishiura

Another horrible day of losses all around, except for TUG (which, unsurprisingly, is a score fest, it seems), and--thank goodness--a big hit in Odd to land securely (well, as secure as anything ever gets in Odd) in fourth place. GANBARIMASU
