    Pre-bout rituals by rikishi

I'm pretty certain this was Ushiomaru ... or perhaps Buyuzan.

Haru Basho 2013 - Discussion Thread

Just two observations from watching for the first time in a few years: 1) Sadonofuji reminds me so much of Futeno. Seemingly the perfect sumo body, and thus potential, but lacking the fire or motivation to really perform. 2) How is it possible for Takarafuji to win without a neck?

    World Games 2009 Kaohsiung

I will be there tomorrow (July 18th) for most of the day. It starts around noonish Taiwan time. I'll try to post some pictures as soon as I can (depending on whether or not my seats are good) and at the very least, I'll post a detailed report by Sunday night. This is the least I can do for all the hard work other forum members put in translating, posting pictures, videos, and results from my beloved Ozumo. Thanks everyone! By the by, anyone in particular I should root for tomorrow?

    Do pigs fly?

Knee injuries continue to mystify me. Some rikishi seem to be able to recover without significant loss of ability. Some seem to have improved. Baruto appears much more stable now after his injury and doesn't take as many nasty looking falls. Toyonoshima, Kotoshogiku, Aminishiki, and Kotooshu have all continued to be quite competitive after serious knee injuries. Kotooshu may not seem competitive right now, but unlike the other three listed with him, he did win a yusho in the last year. Ichihara, on the other hand, seems to have degraded to the point of being totally uncompetitive. It's almost an untenable situation now, though. If he gets surgery now, by the time he recovers, he might be in jonidan.
