According to reports the man received a broken nose and told Asashoryu to apologize while escaping from the car and asking a help from a police officer doing a traffic duty in a fashionable Nishi Azabu district in Tokyo.
Subsequently Asashoryu's personal manager, Akihiro Ichinomiya, son of former Takasago oyakata and former rikishi, came forward and said he was the man who got punched out by Asashoryu. The story was reported to a Yokozuna Deliberation Committee meeting and everyone present more or less condemned the violence but they agreed at least it was between his manager and Asashoryu, accepted the explanation pointing out such a thing may happen one time or another and no further punishment was handed out at the time.
And that should have been the end of it or so everyone in the Kyokai including the chairman, Asashoryu's shisho Takasago oyakata and Asashoryu himself thought.
Then the Shukan Shincho weekly came out with another twist to the story that the man Asashoryu beat was not his own manager but someone else, an acquaintance of Asashoryu.
Everyone wondered why this man was keeping quiet of his identity and refusing to talk to the media though there were some reference to him contacting Azabu Police Division of the National Police Agency. Furthermore there were reports that he was "well known" to the police.
The obvious question is who is this mysterious man and if there is anything more to the story that meets the eye.
So far there are only speculations and inferences as there are some aspects of this incident that even the police appears not want to pursue further.
Japanese media reported the man's identify to be Mr. KT but it is speculated that this Mr. KT is Tsuyoshi Kawana, though not stated officially but known as an actual club manager and owner of Feria, Roppongi's gathering place of celebrities and wannabes, studded with foreign female models.
Kawana is a former leader, nicknamed Monster, of well known motorcycle gang, Kanto Rengo, active in Greater Tokyo area and reported to be a kingpin of drug dealing in Roppongi and Azabu areas of Tokyo. There are some implications that he may even have some police connections to last this long unscathed. During his heydays, he was even known to order his underlings to stab yakuza members, rather blatant conduct.
Kawana's old gang buddy, Hajime Nakamura nicknamed Goblin, was a member of Dragon motorcycle club (known to have strong connections with Chinese mafia though made up of mostly Koreans living in Japan), is a financial backer of another related club in Azabu, "a-life". There is also a story that Nakamura is supplying large amount of cocaine to Kawana who is using Iranian connections to deal so much of them such that he is known as the biggest cocaine dealer in Roppongi/Azabu.
Another owner of the a-life club is Shinji Kamiyama, variously referred to as a well known racketeer. Both Kamiyama and Kawana worked for an opening event for a fashion store Ed-Harvey's Aoyama store attended by Noriko Sakai, singer, who was recently charged for possession of controlled substance.
It's been reported that Sakai, her husband self described professional surfer Yuichi Takaso as well as Manabu Oshio used to frequent "a-life: and the Ed Harvey store. Some may heard of Oshio as Oshio has been charged with negligence a while back after his female friend was found dead with drug overdose in his apartment.
A story goes that when Noriko Sakai was about to be arrested Kamiyama was the man who helped her getaway to a secluded location until she was cleared of any substance she may had within her body then.
The dark triangle of Kawana, Nakamura and Kamiyama does not end with them as complex webs of entanglements spiral out as well hidden VIP lounges of a-life and Feria clubs are the magnets of even darker forces. With their business relationships come Mika Noguchi, female head of women's underwear store Peach John and who actually rented out free the apartment where Oshio's friend was found dead. She herself is quite a character having five children purportedly all with a different partner.
The store's namesake in Japanese, Momotaro is a well known adult video company financed by one of her former husband, a
leading member of yakuza group. Noguchi is also known to be in a high class prostitution ring catering to well known stars, musicians, politicians, businessmen and other well-to-dos.
What remains unanswered is what made Asashoryu so mad to punch Kawana out? Were there some troubled dealing between them?
With Kawana's long relationship with the Azabu Police and the Kyokai's unspoken and hidden ties with organized crime groups, we will never know the whole truth as too much reputations and money are at stake as well as careers and even lives of the
people involved.
