New from here and here

Hi!

Some news from here and there..

1. Asashouryuu has started full training, (mawashi, gym, the works..) and had 15 bouts against heya fellows today. Then he met visiting school children for a question and answer session. he also says he feels more relaxed in Tokyo, since the heya is ther and no hassle etc. etc..

2. Ooshima beya, home of Kyokutenhou and Kyokushuuzan, are trying to implement a new training system based on..golf. they were lectured by a golf coach and a pro about balance (called "The Power Balance Theory) and stuff which I know nothing about..(Maybe Tosanoumi should join these lectures as well..)This theory is being used in Keio University American football training as well.

Apparently, the system involves a special silicon tube which looks like a hose and is supposed to emulate a golf swing. The trainer says that a rikishi with a lot of power with no sense of balance or bad posture is of no use. (re Tosanoumi..)

Ooshima beya has been using nutritional advisors for quite a while as well. Oyakata says, "What the trainer says makes a lot of sense.I expect my boys to learn from it and better themselves", or something along those lines.. Seems to be working with 10-HO! lately.

Maybe they should bring in a bear trainer to augment Shoes-on's 'Bear-tachiai" as well.

I'm all for open-minded, creative oyakata. I hope this works out well (Punk rocker...)

10-HO!

It took me a few seconds, but finally it clicked 10-HO = Kyukotenho. Very funny! :-D (Eh?)
