Akinomaki 41,180 Posted June 7 (edited) In Japan, banzuke are made for everything that can be ranked, esp. common is the onsen banzuke, with favourite onsen resorts. The Hokkaido Association of Fisheries Infrastructure has published a Reiwa 7 Hokkaido haru basho banzuke of most difficult to read fishing harbour names in Hokkaido https://hokkaido-gyokou.jp/information/2436/ -> https://hokkaido-gyokou.jp/cms/wp-content/uploads/4e872661caaf4e8e5185781fd8dfac51.pdf After Mainichi, with a not very clear pic, Asahi shimbun posted an article about it - 64 harbours, y/o/s/k east, west and haridashi e-w - 16 sanyaku, and down to m24 o o o - proper haridashi would be at the side of the banzuke, like the name says, and not like y1 and y2 Edit: they also made (rikishi) cards of the harbours, samples: https://hokkaido-gyokou.jp/cms/wp-content/uploads/5fcdf99156d0ad258becfbb089162d37.pdf Edited June 7 by Akinomaki
Akinomaki 41,180 Posted Saturday at 20:18 (edited) There need not be a sumo style printed banzuke, any contest in Japan may have a result in form of the banzuke, the 2 who finished top are yokozuna e&w and so on. This time we have the yokozuna of jumbo onions, the 6th jumbo onions contest was held on the 20th in Azumino, Nagano, in 2 categories (onion varieties): Sweet70 (ama-nanaju) and NeoEarth - east and west. The participating onions got shikona, the yokozuna of Sweet70 is Nokotan 野児丹 (139.2mm diameter, 947.5g) o the oyakata with his deshi The shikona of the winner of NeoEarth was not shown clear enough - data: 136.2mm, 771g o Edited Saturday at 20:19 by Akinomaki
