Jejima and family's possible road trip to Europe

Recommended Posts

Hi all,

My Filipina wife Michelle (Fujiko) has finally got her UK passport! This means that we can travel again. There is a small possibility that we might be going back to live in Hong Kong in August. My family (Michelle and our boys - Peter (Baku) and Felix (Kaba) all want to see a bit of Europe before we leave - but we don't really have any serious budget to do so.  But I had a little think about something that I did over 30 years ago, when I hitchhiked around Europe with my then girlfriend. We had quite a few contacts all over Europe (we had been to an international school, plus contacts from other things), and we contacted them all, asking for a place to put our sleeping bags down for one or two nights. Based on the offers that we received, we planned a trip all around Europe (I think 16 or so countries - Sweden to Turkey), getting to know the 'real' Europe because we were always staying with real Europeans.

About twelve years ago, I went on a road trip with a US friend from Niagara Falls (Canada side) to Tampa in Florida. We met several (Bench) sumo friends along the way - including Takanorappa, who took us to watch Tom Brady at training!  I would love to meet more 'sumo' friends in real life.

I feel that I have known many of you for decades now - and we have become friends through sumo gaming and our mutual love for sumo. Therefore, I have this request. Would any of the European members of Bench Sumo be willing to let us sleep on your floor for one or two nights? (We will bring sleeping bags etc). There are four of us. Peter is aged 9 and Felix is aged 8. If no floor space is available, how about meeting up for a meal or a coffee/beer/cup of tea somewhere?

The trip would need to be around the last couple of weeks of July / first week or so in August.  I would plan to drive our car on the trip - which would likely mean starting (and finishing) somewhere near Calais, due to either taking a ferry or the Channel Tunnel

Please let me know as early as possible, if we can visit you - and where you are located!

Warmest regards,

Jezz
