Hoshifransu 0 Posted August 4, 2002 Here we go for a new "Championnat de France de football" ! You want to know all about the 20 teams involved ? Ajaccio The team is newly promoted in "Ligue 1". This is one of the two teams of Corsica present at the top level. They have the smallest budget in Ligue 1. No great names in the team and almost no chance to survive. The Uruguayan forward Guglielmone on loan by Nacional Montevideo will be interesting to watch. Auxerre Small town (some 50,000 inhabitants) but great team. Guy Roux is fantastic. He managed the team since the early 80's and Auxerre were 5 divisions lower. Now, they have one of the best training center and one of the best teams with great players like the Senegalese star Fadiga, and french international forward Ciss

Hoshifransu 0 Posted August 4, 2002 Hasn't Roux been the manager since 1963? Ooops ! In fact, yes. I should have said : he managed Auxerre in division one since the early 80's because before, Auxerre was a very little team and Roux built everything and he's now very rich himself too, because before the Auxerre adventure, he was a player himself and he had a job of insurer ! I didn't know Guingamp is such a small place It's fantastic in Guingamp ! They can have an attendance of about 15,000 with only 10,000 inhabitants because all the people who live around, in Britanny, love this team and want to support the team from everywhere ! In the past, they had problems with another local team at some kilometers, Saint-Brieuc (now vanished after bankruptcy), who were a good second division side, because the department could not give too much money to both teams ! The all-time record in France was a team called St-Seurin (near Bordeaux, South-West of France) with only 2,500 inhabitants, they reached the french second division during the late 80's and they remain there some three seasons, and the last one they faced the giant Bordeaux (some 700,000 inhabitants) in the same division (when Bordeaux had money problems) It was unthinkable. This last season, St Seurin had money problems too and they finished with a bankrupt and the season after, they played into sixth division ... That very little team revealed the former french international Lilian Laslandes (who played at Sunderland FC last season) It was a great adventure for them too ! One can even spot people wearing PSG jerseys PSG have a shop at the famous Champs-Elys
Guest Makususuchi Posted August 8, 2002 I think I'll go with Bordeaux this season... lets see. Actually I am more of a Monaco fan, but Bordeaux is number 2 for me, and since Monaco won't win this time I am going with them. Â Basically I like any team that has an "x" in its name :D Cheers Makususuchi
Guest Kaikitsune Posted August 8, 2002 Thanks Hoshifransu-zeki for your little analysis on French football! I admit French football league hasn't been high on my interest list and it still remains in the shadows but nevertheless a little analysis like that can do wonders, especially since you didn't analyse every team with 300 words. Just short snippets of essential information was optimal for me to gain interest in this
Hoshifransu 0 Posted August 8, 2002 Teemu Tainio! He playes for Auxerre, right? What do you Hoshifransu-zeki think about him? Is he known player in general in French football league? Tainio is a very good player in Auxerre. Tonight, Auxerre beated Montpellier by 2-0 and Tainio made a great game again. You know, when Guy Roux hires a foreign player, each time, it's a very very good player to come (look at both Senegalese Faye and Fadiga) because Auxerre has one of the best training centers in France (with Nantes and Bordeaux) and Auxerre revealed a lot of french players like french super-star Eric Cantona, for example ! So, Guy Roux has a lot of possibilities with the young french players and when he decides to hire a foreign player, that's because he knows he's a great player to come ! I don't know if Tainio will make great things for the Finnish National Team but I won't be surprised if he will make it in the future ! Last season he was a key player in midfield and he's very reputed in France and known by everybody but many people believe he's a french player (because so many french players in Auxerre)

Usagi 36 Posted September 2, 2002 I dislike Monaco, because there are so few Fans interrested in this Club but they're so damn rich. I dislike Bordeaux as well, as there is a friendship between the Fans of Bordeaux and Bayern M
Hoshifransu 0 Posted September 3, 2002 I dislike Monaco, because there are so few Fans interrested in this Club but they're so damn rich You're absolutely right ... What a shame ... A so beautiful stadium, a so beautiful team and so few people to watch it ... BTW, local rivals Nice on top of the french league is a huge surprise currently ... Almost all the players are on loan from other teams, which can explain all these players have a revenge, have things to prove ... Nice are coached by former Bordeaux player and manager, German ace Gernot Rohr ... I was a huge fan during the years 1985 when Bordeaux was coached by Aim
