Kintamayama 45,530 Posted November 3, 2009 Kadoban 14th time record holder shlimazel Chiyotaikai has commenced training at the Fukuoka Kokonoe beya base today. Light training-suriashi, shiko. "I've got to get my sumo sense back. I will gambarize so I can have a good year. I have been taking care of my body daily. I have no choice but to fine- tune it well", he said. Asked about whether or not he will retire: "There are a lot of ways to look at it, but I am always looking forward!", he said.

Is that a literal translation? (Band playing...) There's something very funny about combining sumo with Yiddish.

Kintamayama 45,530 Posted November 6, 2009 Harumafuji had 19 bouts with Yokozuna Hakuhou who came to visit today. He was attacking his mostly "let's see what you'll do" opponent with tsuppari and dashinage, but is still troubled by the left knee injury he suffered during the jungyo and was seen occasionally grimacing with pain. "I'll do what I can so that it doesn't get any worse..", he said. It's been a year since he had those 13 wins that clinched his Ozeki promotion. "It's been a year.. I'd like to put my body balance in order and get a good result!", he declared.

Kintamayama 45,530 Posted November 7, 2009 (edited) KaioU's autobiography "Superhuman Strength (Kairiki)" will be out Monday. He had a book-signing party today. The plan was to sign about a hundred books, but due to the demand, he signed 150. He politely signed them one by one and said: "I was totally surprised by the number of people that came and it made me very happy. It has really given me strength! It's my home town, so I'd like to do my own sumo as often as I can.." Training? Not a word so far. Edited November 7, 2009 by Kintamayama
Treblemaker 254 Posted November 7, 2009 ... I'd like to do my own sumo as often as I can.." I keep seeing this quote time and time again... I don't get it. Like, if they're not doing their own sumo, whose sumo are they doing? Does that other person know? Is he being paid? Collecting a royalty? Gaining recognition? Can someone else do their sumo? AhHhaAaaAa!!! I get it. Chiyo's been doing someone else's sumo the whole time and nobody noticed!!! And since Kaio now wants to do his sumo, whose sumo has he been doing up to now? It's funny. You never hear someone say, "Ya know, this basho, I'm gonna do Sakari's Sumo. Something different, maybe...." "This time around, I'm gonna get me some Asashoryu Sumo. I hear it's good stuff..." "Man, I'm laying off the Aran sumo thing... Not working for me. Maybe Kakizoe Sumo is a better fit..."

Treblemaker 254 Posted November 8, 2009 was all of that necessary? really. we got this gist of your comment after the first sentence ... and nevertheless, you read all of it. Was it necessary? Of course not. (In a state of confusion...)
Kintamayama 45,530 Posted November 8, 2009 Kotooushuu was training against Juryo opponents today at the Sadogatake lodgings, with sharp de-ashi and generally strong sumo. However, his old injury, the right knee, is very heavily taped, causing some concern. He was fussing over it all during the training session. "I am concerned about Kotooushuu's knee. The basho will not wait..", said Sadogatake Oyakata. Osh himself left silently after the keiko.
Kintamayama 45,530 Posted November 10, 2009 Harumafuji came to Naruto to tangle with his "rival" Kisenosato. Sparks flew as they went at it, sometimes still going at it after they were outside the dohyo. More than 20 bouts, and reports of equal wins.
Kintamayama 45,530 Posted November 11, 2009 KaioU went for degeiko to Tokitsukaze beya today and had 12 bouts, winning 10. "I was checking out how much I can persist.. Slowly but Shirley, my body is moving well..", he said. Chiyotaikai who also came, had 3 bouts and won them all. They were seen training together, checking out their tachiai and exchanging advice. Last year KaioU was injured during degeiko before the basho. "Last year I was at the heya groaning and moaning. In contrast, now I'm so-so..", he said, looking relaxed. He plans on finishing off his before-basho keiko at home in Tomozuna.
