Zentoryu 154 Posted April 12, 2009 (edited) This took a lot longer than I wanted it too simply because I couldn't decide what I wanted to do with the lower part of Juryo and with the Jonokuchi division as a whole. There were only 10 active players in Jonokuchi last basho, continuing the trend of declining participation in the game. I'm going to wait one more basho to see what the participation numbers look like. If they continue the downward trend, I'm going to simply merge Jonokuchi with Makushita. We have a new Ozeki in Golynohana (mentioned in the banzuke notes below). He joins Fujisan, who takes over as the top ranked player on the Roto Banzuke, Doitsuyama and Dimitri, who are both kadoban. Juryo was hard to put together, specifically the bottom ranks. There were a number of MK rikishi with demotable records, but not nearly enough rikishi at the top of Makushita with promotable records. I did several versions of the division before settling on this one. Bogdanyama, Kotononami and Pastanoyama can all feel very fortunate to remain as Juryo rikishi. Bankuze Notes: Ozeki Promotion: Golynohana earned Ozeki promotion with 30 wins over the last three tournaments. Ozeki promotion candidate: Randomitsuki has 22 wins in his last two tournaments and will need a minimum of 9 during Natsu to achieve Ozeki promotion. Current Ozeki: Doitsuyama is kadoban for the 6th time in his Ozeki career. Dimitri is kadoban for the 2nd time. Sanyaku Debut: Takanosushi (after just 14 basho since hatsu dohyo). Makuuchi Debuts: Kaiguma (after 16 tournaments spent in Juryo and the lower divisions). Crall (after only 8 tournaments spent in Juro and the lower divisions). Makuuchi Returns: Ketsukai (after 5 tournaments in Juryo) 3rd Makuuchi promotion. Jakusotsu (after 6 tournaments in Juryo) 2nd Makuuchi promotion. Onzoushi_oyakata (after 1 tournament in Juryo) 2nd Makuuchi Promotion. Juryo Debuts: Vikanohara (after 14 tournaments spent in the lower divisions). Doyobi (after 33 tournaments spent in Makushita and Jonokuchi). Sokkenaiyama (after only 5 tournaments spent in Makushita and Jonokuchi). Juryo Returns: Toratorii (after 1 tournament in Makushita). 2nd Juryo promotion. Mischashimaru (after 2 tournaments in Makushita) 3rd Juryo promotion. Doyobi 0 Posted April 13, 2009 Doyobi (after 33 tournaments spent in Makushita and Jonokuchi). I will do my best to ganbarize and continue doing my own Rotosumo, to reward the support of my fans (all three of them). Missing flag picture to be posted on a later occasion. (Lifting weights...) kaiguma 0 Posted April 14, 2009 Hey that's great news! Also I am happy to break in with a good record to help pad my fall (Lifting weights...) Thanks to everyone who makes the game happen! And since we are dwindling, I guess that's everyone who sticks with this great game. I urge everyone to continue to gambarize (Exercising...)
Zentoryu 154 Posted April 15, 2009 Made a minor change to the banzuke, basically flipping Asashosakari and Anjoboshi. I don't know why I had it the other way around as Asa should have been ahead of Anjoboshi based on their records last basho.
