Doitsuyama 1,259 Posted November 19, 2008 The lower ranked leader Miyabiyama suffered an okuritaoshi loss against Kisenosato, and Hakuho capitalized to take the sole makuuchi yusho lead with an okuridashi win over Estonian Baruto. At least Ama beat Chiyotaikai to stay one win behind and give us an interesting match-up with the yokozuna tomorrow. At 9-2 a win over the yokozuna would mean almost clinching the ozeki promotion for the light sekiwake. Kotomitsuki got his eighth win by virtue of his opponent Kakuryu going kyujo because his tussle with the dohyo yesterday damaged both apparently. Toyonoshima also is kachi-koshi with a kirikaeshi win over Aminishiki and will take Goeido's komusubi slot, or possibly even a free sekiwake slot. Kisenosato is having a good basho with three ozeki scalps and clinched kachi-koshi today as well. Yoshikaze also is doing very well in his 16th makuuchi basho, beating Kyokutenho today to get an early kachi-koshi, setting a new kachi-koshi high rank as he has been M12 or better six times but always with a make-koshi. Kitataiki and Kasuganishiki are the first two sure demotions to juryo, the first at 1-10 with a loss against Tochinonada and the second at 2-3-6 and not on the torikumi for tomorrow. Kimurayama, Masatsukasa and Homasho are other rikishi in danger, and the latter two get some juryo taste tomorrow already. Iwakiyama lost to Homasho while Shotenro beat Yamamotoyama to regain the sole juryo lead. Tamawashi stays close beating the other pursuer Kotokasuga. The opponents get switched tomorrow with Tamawashi against Homasho and Iwakiyama against Kotokasuga while Shotenro takes Kyokunankai. Ryuo is on the brink of demotion to makushita while the shin-juryo are doing surprisingly well as yusho-leading Shotenro, Yotsuguruma and Daishoumi all won today. Yokotanoharry 1 Posted November 19, 2008 (Zabuton flying...) Strange. Gomen asai, but I think I saw Kasuganishiki guarding the hanamichi yesterday.
