Guest Kaikitsune Posted August 16, 2002 How is Kaio ?Somebody has news? Haven't seen any information concerning Kaio's recovery status after Nagoya basho. He had injuries in both his short and long head biceps muscle tendons. He should return in Aki as he is kadoban and all but in what shape he will be remains a mystery. Tony 16 Posted August 18, 2002 I hope that Kaio could make a beautiful come-back. He's the most interesting rikishi thanks to his powerful nage, good balance,...He's really spectacular. He looks like to famous Kitanoumi. Good luck Kaio!
Guest Kaikitsune Posted August 25, 2002 Tomozuna-beya rikishi have returned from their summer training camp in the mountains. Kaio took part in keiko against Sentoryu and obviously against younger rikishi too. Fruitful information since it is still 2 weeks until shonichi and plenty of time for further quality training. I hope Kaio will use the time efficiently and we'll see him shake off that nasty kadoban status easily!
Guest Kaikitsune Posted August 31, 2002 On 29th Kaio went to Kataonami-beya for de-geiko with sekitori and yesterday on 30th he joined Tatsunami-Isegahama ichimon keiko session and had 16 bouts against Takamisakari, Ushiomaru and Asasekiryu winning all 16. He was wearing a support around his recuperating arm but didn't seem too handicapped. In one bout he beat Ushiomaru with kotenage. He said he is still a bit careful at the tachi-ai but it looks like he is getting back in shape. On Monday Soken takes place and then we should get more detailed picture of the ozumo genkiness map. Musoyama should be back too and it will be interesting to see how Maru handles his weight.

Tony 16 Posted August 31, 2002 Do you thinkthat Kaio could obtain kashi-kochi in September? Lot of people are sceptic but these news are encouraging.
Guest Kaikitsune Posted September 3, 2002 Do you thinkthat Kaio could obtain kashi-kochi in September?Lot of people are sceptic but these news are encouraging. Soken news were even more encouraging. Kaio's training has been really good lately. Being the most diligent rikishi at soken with 23 bouts is a clear sign of determination. On a forum dedicated to Kaio some Japanese Kaio-fan had gone to Soken to see how Kaio performed. His little report indicated Kaio still has support around his upper arm but was strong and didn't appear to have significant trouble with his arm. The reporter adds he believes Kaio is in good shape in Aki! I hope his arm has healed up to point where risk of re-injury is low so no worries about that must be born in mind... Kaio-forum can be found here: http://www02.so-net.ne.jp/~yu-shun/cgi-bin/minibbs.cgi As the topic is of Kaio I could advertise my humble report of "Kaio in Natsu 2002" which I finally got done few days ago
Tony 16 Posted September 4, 2002 Very great news! Perharps, he will fight to win his fourth yusho! I don't know why, but I see Kaio very well for this Hon-basho.
Kaikitsune Makoto 210 Posted September 6, 2002 On Thursday Kaio went to Takasago-beya and bulldozed Toki, Aminishiki and others. 17 bouts altogether. The state of his left arm is better and better and while he wears a support around it and has some pain and problems with certain defensive moves, his condition is very good. 4th yusho in sight... (Thumbs up...)
