Kitanoumi Rijicho says he is going to give Asashouryuu some guidance "immediately". "Not from the standpoint of Rijicho, but more from a standpoint of "Senpai" (senior)- I think I have a lot to teach him", he said. Asked when exactly he was going to do this he answered, "This is not something I will answer publicly".

Takasago regarding the ponytail:"There were other rikishi around, so he could have easily made some semblence of a mage. Not doing that is not good", he said, expecting and hoping that the Yokozuna behave like one. (Nikkan)

The handshake finally happened today. After the opening day Dohyo-iri of the summer jungyo, they met in front of the media, shook hands and exchanged niceties in.. Mongolian. After that, the "ritual", as the press called it, was over. The story (fight, etc.) was very big in Mongolia as well, as both rikishi found out during their holidays. "It's all behind us. I want the Yokozuna to win the yusho in Aki!", said Shoes-on, looking like a man who got a BIG load off his shoulders. Shouryuu was totally silent after the handshake. He did some light training ("lent his bosom", says the translator to "kyou wo dashi")..and the dohyo-iri.

Papers say this reconciliation is for the public image only. Just this morning, Takasago Oyakata said:" Reconciliation? It is totally up to Asashouryuu. I haven't and don't intend to speak to him on this subject", hinting that there still is a "volatile" situation regardless.

In any case, there will not be any bout between them in Aki. The jungyo torikumi makers are also doing their best to avoid a match between the two as well. "All we need now is for something to go wrong in a bout between them", they muttered.. There's the asa-geiko too, but everyone is pretty sure Shoes-on will pass on that as well.
