Congratulations to Oonosato. What a beautiful tournament, lets see if he can Zensho. Also we have Yokozuna on THE WALL now. Oonosato: ''Makekoshi? What is that? Can you eat it?'' Got to feel a bit sorry for Hakuouhou. First get destroyed by Oonosato, today get destroyed by Aonishiki. Can't see Atamifuji beating Aonishiki tomorrow either, so a safe bet would be a 10-5 record and maybe even a mirror 11-4 record of a last basho if he wrestles well. He is a pleasure to watch. I think he deserves a special prize again. Gino-sho would be fine due to all the technical stuff he has been doing.
-
I hope we see Kiribayama next basho. This Kirishima dude ain't all that.
-
Aonishiki keeps on murdering the lower divisions. He is 20-0. Oonosato seems to be the Hokuseiho we all wanted. Huge, powerful and really agile for his size. He will go far, Ozeki in a few years. Possibly a Yokozuna in a couple more (at least before he hits 30). Then there is The Demon Beast, or Takerufuji. Which demon or yokai did he sell is soul to? This man has to be stopped. How far will he go? Who the hell knows, or the hell knows.

Natsu 2022 Discussion Thread - here be spoilers
Jyuunomori replied to Benihana's topic in Honbasho Talk
People putting both arms under Terunofuji's armpits has the same energy as a child who has touched the fire once and been burned, then touches the fire again to see if it is still hot. -

Aki Basho 2021 - Discussion Thread (Spoilers!)

Ura pulling out the magic tricks again. I swear, every damn basho he either tries to or actually pulls off something awesome. -
To be perfectly honest: Hakuho was actually trying to lose today, just so that he could give Terunofuji the good ol' Henkaryuu special and double Henka him, first in regulation and in the following play-off... Kisenosato v. Henkaryuu flashbacks intensify.
-
I honestly think that was just Hakuho giving some smelling salts to Shodai with those slaps. '''See, you can't even beat a guy who doesn't tachiai. Time to learn the entire sumo dictionary again, from alphabets, basics of the basics.'' Anyways. Will Terunofuji remain Terunofuji when he is given the rope? Glad to see him get it...since he always was gonna get it before the...delay...

Guy has kept his promise to win a Yusho from each division to Sekitorihood. Now he needs two more scalps to make it 6/6.
-
Man, he really did it. A Sekitori in one year, even with the sit-out due to Corona regulations. Let's see if he will manage his other goal: Win a Yusho in each division.
-
Hakuho's face really says it all at the end: ''Did you guys see that shit? Crazy stuff man.'' He was almost certain that he lost when his back was taken. Seeing him again is such a riot.
-
Gotta say: This is some weird shit... ...it is like the people ringside actually took Takakeisho's injury seriously or some shit...imagine my surprise they didn't let him die on the ringside. Weird times. Enho not being asked to be a superhuman and not letting him continue might be even weirder.
-
Oof, that's gruesome by Ura. I guess since Enho is a smaller guy, and Ura as a brilliant technique rikishi can beat him in technique or just purely outmuscle him. Two really solid wins by Ura over Enho these past few tournaments. Good for him. But the main topic: Are we really gonna see Terunofuji do the fabled double promotion from Ozeki to Yokozuna in a back-to-back basho? Bonus: Ichinojo didn't quit for some reason as he usually does. Weird seeing him win a long bout.

If Takakeisho wins tomorrow 14-1...YDC wouldn't promote him, would they? -
Non-K-November basho 2020 Discussion (spoiler space)

Do I see Hakuho grooming this Hokuseiho kid to be his successor or something? 21-0 and triple Yusho in a row. No problem at all, barely an inconvenience. -
I am sorry Takakeishou, but if your shoulder spasm daily I would think you are, in fact, not OK.
-
Daieisho got promoted to Sekiwake with neither Sekiwake losing their ranks. His performance was too good not to be promoted, and Endo was there to fill the Komusubi spot. A huge leap for Terunofuji. Welcome back, my man.

As much as I love Kisenosato, please dude, stop. It is getting really painful to watch one of the top Ozekis in the history of Sumo to go down like this. He loves Sumo, and I get it, but it is time to quit now before he embarrasses his legacy further. He made it to the top then capped it off with a Yusho as a Yokozuna. All three Ozeki may want to go Kyujo as well. This is not a good look. Especially when 40-year-old Aminishishiki looks better, even when losing. At least the Young Bloods are doing really well. Tomorrow we will see if Takakeisho has the nerves to go on to become Ozeki. There is not many people standing between that rank now.
-
Ura finished with respectable 6-1. What a comeback basho for him. Sad that Tochinoshin didn't clinch the KK.
-
That my folks may be the most bullshit decision made by Shimpan I have ever seen. It is ludicrous that they gave it to Takayasu. It is like having a boxer being knocked out and then giving him the win afterwards. Travesty at its finest. Edit: Should have seen it coming though. Ikioi had to beat his opponent twice yesterday despite clearly winning.
-
And here we are. Tochinoshin if he keeps this up. (He has been looking way better since day 2), is gonna start a Tsuna run here if he wins the Yusho. MItakeumi, on the other hand, may begin his Ozeki run if he scored really high. God this basho is only 5 days in and is beginning to be as exciting as the last two basho. Edit: Abi is starting to milk that Kinboshi money already. Congratulations.

I think he mentioned in one of the interviews that he is starting to lose his passion for Sumo at the start of the year. If that is the case it shows in his records. Anyway: On Tochinshin: Talk about a reverse situation of Goeidou. Who usually does well in Keiko and crumbles in actual Basho. Not to say Goeidou hasn't done well this basho. Tochinoshin looks determined and more energetic on his fourth day then he did on his first two. I just love watching this guy, thanks to his huge injury he is an inspiration to us all and should be respected by doing what I thought was impossible. On Mitakeumi: Our second leader. Showing us strong Sumo (which he has done for a year now) at least in the first week. I think it is a matter of time before he hits a massive stride and becomes an Ozeki. He has the goods, now he needs is to hone his skill and a bit of luck.
-
Congratz for Henkaryuu winning the tournament. The last bout was a great one, but he still henka'd Giku so I will take this with a grain of salt. A damn shame for Tochinoshin too. He was too hasty with the Shodai bout and it cost him. But well, Jun-Yusho and Ozeki promotion are still his so he cannot be too disappointed.

Kakuryuu wears the loosest mawashi ever witnessed in Sumo history. How honourable. /s

To be fair Tochinoshin's bouts against Hakuho were mostly all hard-fought by the Yokozuna. Despite the 25-1 record, Hakuho could have lost multiple times there.
