    Goeido's Ozeki Run

Reading, trying and querying - Sumo Reference is awesome (if someday it needs Linux hosting, call me) - I think that the Goeido`s run will go for another basho. Only, if only, he could get a 14-1 or 15-0 Yusho he could promoted right this basho (right?)

    Kyushu Basho 2013 discussion thread

I like Osh a lot, really. But I think that a drop to Sekiwake will take him the same route than Baruto: a drop to Maegashira and Intai. Too many changes this basho! I don`t like so many changes :(

(Eh?) Be welcome! And remember that I'm not the ethnic guy killed first in serial killer movies :D Ok, don't remember me at all in any "serial killer" aspect :D

    Endou Kyujo?

I think he's looking for the 3-4 wins needed to keep his Makuuchi status and leave after that. ... well, I'm Brazilian and many times the Sumo culture eludes me. Why fight this way? Why not wait one basho and fight more and better? Sorry, but a victory, like his oyakata said, is not a cure. Not even close.

    Kyushu Basho 2013 discussion thread

Some years from now we'll be sayin "look, in my time we had Hakuho and I watched him fight" - we're seeing history, maybe a once on a lifetime event, and his name is Hakuho. The Endou's fight was strange - he's not ok.

    Endou Kyujo?

Oh man... let it heal properly! The sumo needs you healthy.

    Endou Kyujo?

If... just a big IF he goes Kyujo all 15 days that means Juryo? How many days he should fight to keep Makuushi?

    New recruits for Kyushu 2013

He is 22 years old... anytime in the last 3 years he could have trained with Hakuho, right?

    New recruits for Kyushu 2013

Seems like we'll be seeing he soon as sekitori. Let's see him in Juryo and make our minds - it should take no more than 2 basho, right?

    Aran talking retirement? Yes. Retired.

So do I. Hope this is the last henka from his.

    Hakuho changed his dohyo-iri style

Ok, indulge me a little - but is too impossible, too anathema to think that Hakuho may be developing (with time) his own style? If he gets above Taiho, that could be acepted?

Sad year, we lost two very interesting sumo wrestlers. Aran and Baruto. in my short time with sumo I learn to like both (in different ways)

... and the Endo kyujo? It sounds a little like in soccer "poupar" (to save). He would be - likely - crushed by the high level rikishi and he gets a "injury" at 9-4. Is it possible? Or its in fact a real injury? :)

Korean sumo ssireum in North Korea

North Korea is a ... unique place, ahn? :-) (I would cite Monty Python and his "Camelot is a silly place" but ...)

    Greatest Sumo Ever?

I have only two years of sumo (since Kaisei get his 10-5 in his debut in Makuuchi) I watched a lot of sumo, past and present in YouTube. To me, considered my junior status in sumo world and my knowledge only by YouTube... ...past: Chiyonofuji is the one. Seriously, he frightens me yet today! (Asashoryu gets a citation here... strong, fast and a bad ass) ...present: Hakuho. He is THE one. Kind of Neo of Matrix. ... and Baruto. I truly like his sumo, his good-nature way, his smile. Miss him.

New Kyokai cheerleaders to debut in Kyushu

    Missed Takanoyama-cheerleader there :-P

    Hakuho, 27 Yusho and Counting

If I remember correct, is this not exactly how the rank was created?! Yokozuna... just a special kind of ozeki. Yes, that was intended to be part of the joke... that Hak is so far above the others that he connection Ozeki/Yak is somewhat hard to see. But, I'm bad at jokes in Portuguese, shouldn't try one in English. My bad (In jonokuchi...) And what is the number of recognized kimarite today? We had a change some time ago, right? Today we have more kimarite that some 30 years ago, right?

I too am almost blind from an eye (the left one) and that brings many difficulties with deep field, spatial sense and 3D (can't go to 3D movies). Hak made his one-eyed victory seems so normal. It isn't :) Well, that's actually good, isn't it? Well, I hope that is :-D Don't know/see the other option (the 3D movies)

    Hakuho, 27 Yusho and Counting

Yes, we're very lucky. Some years from now we'll be saying "IN MY TIME we had Hakuho, a real Yokozuna, not these Ozeki being called Yoks. Hak knowed EVERY kimarite and used them all, all the time!"

An Egyptian mummy? :-D And for the Hakuho x Kisenosato, I wouldn't revert the decision. In doing the hatakikomi the finger get in Kise hair, but the pull (if it ocurred) was not decisive.

What you saying is that Hakuhou depends only on himself to get the 33 basho mark, right? If he has the will he'll get the record (unless some injury). Myogiryu, Ikioi, Okinoum, Endou, Osunaarashi and Terunofuji seems to be the guys to watch

Myogiryu has a hard time ahead - two yok and one ozeki, right? I think he'll had a hard time, or he'll prove himself ozeki material or he'll drop to maegashira (I'm a noob, please forgive me for my analysis :-P )

I was just going to comment that the trend to me seems to be a lot less henka and a lot of slapping (tsuppari?) -- at least in Makuuichi. I'm not following the other divisions enough to comment. This trend is in Juryo too - less henka, more "slapping". And more emotion. Maybe a new sumo? I, being a latino myself (with roots in cold Russia), would like to see a little more emotion in dohyo
