    Album art: rikishi?

Anyone recognizing this picture? Is this a rikishi, and if so, who?

    Where to watch Sumo

Yes. Did I not interpret it correctly? Discontinued doesn't sound good, innit?

    Where to watch Sumo

Last time I checked the NSK site mentioned that this basho was the last one to be covered by the live stream.

    Tokyo trip

Wow I can't believe this, I have to take a business trip to Tokyo, just for a few days. I should be there tomorrow. I certainly won't have much to walk around the city and I didn't have any time to prepare for this. If you could please give me any suggestions for a sumo fan who is in a hurry, I'd be very thankful. Is there anything to see at the Kokugikan in this period?

    Sumo DVD's

I suppose the DVDs come only in Japanese? If they contained English subtitles that would be something to look for even for the non-Japanese sumo fans.

    Natsu 2009 Banzuke

It should be a learning evolution-based program, with thousand of instances making their guess each basho, and only the best ones surviving to recombine their "genes". It has been a dream of mine for a long time, to write such a program.

New RotoSumo Banzuke - Natsu 2009

I will do my best to ganbarize and continue doing my own Rotosumo, to reward the support of my fans (all three of them). Missing flag picture to be posted on a later occasion. (Lifting weights...)

    Financial crisis hits Japan

Following the financial crisis on Wall Street uncertainty has now hit the banking sector in Japan. In the last seven days Origami Bank has folded, Sumo Bank has gone belly up and Bonsai Bank announced plans to cut some of its branches. Yesterday, it was announced that Karaoke Bank is up for sale and will likely go for a song, while today shares in Kamikaze Bank were suspended after they nose-dived. While Samurai Bank is soldiering on following sharp cutbacks, Ninja Bank is reported to have taken a hit, but they remain in the black. A spokesman for Haiku Holdings was lost for words over the financial crisis, while according to rumours Nippon Bank was starting to feel the pinch. Furthermore, 500 staff at Karate Bank got the chop and analysts report that there is something fishy going on at Sushi Bank where it is feared staff may get a raw deal. Meanwhile Geisha Bank has bowed to the inevitable and shut. One trader lamented: "It's all gone to Shiitake."
