kedevash replied to Asashosakari's topic in Amasumo Discussions
Does anyone has the individual results of this competition? THanks a lot ! -
I think Taganoura beya is not correct. If i remember well they have move to Ryogku some time ago. A little south of Kise and Dewanoumi and north of Oguruma.

64th All Japan College & Corporate Sumo Kariya Tournament (2016-9-11)
kedevash replied to mikawa's topic in Amasumo Discussions
I'm a little confused about the main 4 competition that allow to enter as Makushita tsukedashi. There is the All-Japan sumo Championship in december. Open to all. Corporate, individual, university, high school. There is the All-Japan College Championship in november Open to College CHampionship. Open to University guys There is the Kokutai in October open to all ( i think ) And i thought there was the All-Japan Corporate Championship open to Corporate guys. It is the last that confuse me because i see in this thread that the university guys was there too. Is there a change? -
Turbold Back problem can be a concern entering pro sumo. His compatriot Ichinojo has chronic back pain that is getting more and more of a problem. But i can't wait to see him next march if he enters pro sumo. The runner up Onami was very exciting to watch !!

I have calculate since 1972 the average number of rikishi on the banzuke ( i don't count the banzuke gai rikishi ). I show you the results below. I used the sumo reference data base as ressource. It may have some little errors but the results is mainly accurate i think. 1972 => 579 1973 => 573 1974 => 593 1975 => 618 1976 => 649 1977 => 631 1978 => 621 1979 =>646 1980 => 680 1981 => 712 1982 => 712 1983 => 744 1984 => 758 1985 => 779 1986 => 797 1987 => 786 1988 => 784 1989 => 768 1990 => 757 1991 => 740 1992 => 804 1993 => 870 1994 => 896 1995 => 880 1996 => 880 1997 => 868 1998 => 814 1999 => 799 2000 => 758 2001 => 721 2002 => 709 2003 => 693 2004 => 719 2005 => 727 2006 => 716 2007 => 718 2008 => 714 2009 => 698 2010 => 692 2011 => 652 2012 => 634 2013 => 620 2014 => 629 2015 => 638 2016 => 646 The golden age of sumo was during the Taka/Waka brothers days. Since then the number of rikishi had decline but starting from 2014 the number had increase a bit. I don't think we will someday reach the 800 mark. More and more collegiate rikishiki will come with the new sandanme tsukedashi system but i don't see a wave of new wreslter anymore. I hope i'm wrong, since last year, a good number of japanese rikishi had emerge and even won 2 basho! The spectators are back in the stadium so i hope it will initiate a new start for Ozumo !!

Does somebody have some news about Jokoryu? I just notice that he is down to sandanme now. Career ending injury?
-
I send 2 or 3 mails but never got answer so i post here. What do you think if sumo reference add the search by real name for rikishi. To find past amateur or university guys it will be easier. And second i can help if needed to actualise the height and weight of the rikishi. It has stop since a while.

Sumo live on PC with a new Softbank service
kedevash replied to Akinomaki's topic in Ozumo Discussions
I don't understand... Why the don't a stream like that available on fix computer, tablet and smartphone. And of course that is working worlwide not region restricted. I will allow a lot more fan and newcomer to watch sumo. The popularity of sumo will make a huge jump i m sure. Sometimes NSK is doing things that i can't understand... -
Does someone have the top eigh full results? Last Name , First name and company name if any? I try to make some statistics about amateur sumo :)

Does someone as the adress of the new heya? I went there in January and had the chance to meet Hakuho and took a picture with him. He was very nice talking to me before talking to all the reporters that was there this day. Special thanks to Martina Luna for this. But last time i was looking for the heya and i couldn't find it. It is in a small street so not easy to find.

Thank you for the complete information! Is the grade 4 ; 5 and 6 for primary shcool and wanpaku are the same ages categories? I think that wanpaku are even younger than primary school but i m not sure. Lately, i try to follow closely the amateur scene but the reading of the name and university, company or school give me so much trouble. Very interesting to see how wrestlers evolve when they grow !

So interesting to watch. That should boost the flag company for sure :) It's always a pleasure to take pictures of the nobori.

I send a message to an e-mail that i found in the sumo world magazine of january qqqwh984@yahoo.co.jp. I live in France and i asked how i can get a subscription. But i got no answer. Does somebody knows how to get a subscription to the magazine? Thanks a lot !

Thank you for all the link. I find a wonderfull channel on youtube that feature a LOT of amateur sumo. https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCLRnhJbHoO0w4eAMwrJ__2g I have some question about Amateur Yokozuna. Amateur yokozuna was award to the winner of the all-Japan sumo championship. Is it the only tournement to become amateur yokozuna? College yokozuna is award to the winner of the all-Japan Student sumo championship. And for the younger one like High school, junior High and primary shcool. Is there a specific championship to win or is there many other one?

Very interesting thread ! I wonder where you see ama sumo on sumo. Do you have some links for me to watch?

Hello all I'm Philippe. I'm 28. I live in France. I'm a big fan of sumo since 2006. The first basho i see on tv was the last won by a Japanese rikishi, Tochiazuma II. Since then, i follow sumo closely. I now have a collection of 600 dvds of each basho since 2006. This collection becomes to take place in my house :-) . I also make a personnal banzuke and a rikishi profil with exel. I don't know how i can upload some to show you my work. If someone can tell me that i take it. In 2010 i went to Japan to visit Tokyo Kyoto ect... I also attend to some keiko in tokyo before the basho. Tokitsukaze ; Satogatake and Kasugano. I met some rikishi! What a dream come true. After that i went to 7 days of the Natsu basho. Stay all day to see the lower divisions boots ect... What an experience !!! Next september i will be back in Japan with my wife this time. And of course i have plan to attend some keiko and to one day of the aki basho ( my wife is not a fan of sumo as me) So I will be sooo please if someone could bring me to some keiko and meet rikishi! My favourite rikihi are Harumafuji ; Hakuho ; Myogiryu ; Toyonoshima and Yoshikaze. I also follow closely Isegahama beya and my little favorite Terutsuyoshi. In my Topic tile i have mention "sumo" magazine. I don't find a way to get it so can somebody can buy it for me and send it to France. I can pay you via Paypal or something else too. Thanks to have read me and i looking foward to talk to you guys !!!

Also Naruto just not became Taganoura but the heya has move to the old Mihogazeki Beya in Ryogoku.

I think Shikoroyama has move and is now near Oguruma Kitanoumi and Otake?

What is the best way to put Sumo in the shadow of others sports. By doing what they just have done. I'm really down right now. Hope some solution will be find to continue watching. Thanks to Araibara for all he has done !

If i'm not wrong i think Kimura Shonosuke ( Toshihiro Yamaasaki ) will have 65 during the bahso. On the 16 th of may. Maybe someone can confirm that. I don't know if he can retire during the tournement or if he has to do it before shonichi. Ps : Orion, i send you a private message. Do you have seen it?
