  1. This sounds surprisingly rational. Maybe the report as a whole isn't as outrageous as many of us have thought?
  2. I can't say I liked him. I found his tachi-ai rather obnoxious. However, I do remember reading about his hooting habit as a result of him coming from a religious/population minority practicing some kind of "totemism" with the owl being his "guardian spirit". Is this true or is it just an unsubstantiated legend?
  3. Okay, well played then
  4. Gosh, I really believed that. Subconsciously, something was ticking in my head. After looking back to the original news I realised it was the lack of a link. But that was only slight and subconscious. On the consciousness level I believed every word. Well done, my man @Kintamayama, well done…
  5. Exactly what I was thinking, too. I called him the "heel" of the sumo world just before the basho and he seems to have taken in personally
  6. Relieved to hear the news about Hakuho. I was hoping for that but, frankly, also half expecting it. For two reasons, basically: 1) I'm sure there's much more going on behind the scenes. People talk to each other. 2) There was one truly nightmarish scenario for the YDC: They recommend intai, Hakuho defies them. Not what you'd expect but then again, he's Hakuho. There's some fuss about it for several months, then in July he comes back and yushos (remember, he's Hakuho), turning them into a bunch of incompetent fools. Would they have risked it? Well, they didn't…
  7. Some time ago Yoshikaze might have taken it from Teru for his wife but this won't work now. (Refering to that photo in Yoshikaze topic; NOT making fun of what happened in the family afterwards.)
  8. Sunday afternoon Cup of tea – The Fifteenth Day Festive emptiness
  9. Fare well, gentle yokozuna. Welcome, (hopefully) successful oyakata.
  10. While before the mood change he wanted to do backwards moving sumo and gather consecutive losses. Oh my
  11. Hehe, I was wondering who was gonna pick this one up
  12. Yes, he's very nible and sporty. It wouldn't surprise me if he for example played volleyball or lawn tennis or something similar in his free time.
  13. Heh, I just couldn't help but focus on Konosuke's sweet moves in Kotonowaka–Okinoumi. I had to replay it twice before I could really watch the sekitori and didn't get my eyes drawn to the gyoji
  14. But only if he goes about it a day at a time, does his own brand of oyakata and gambarizes properly.
  15. Congratulations to Harumafuji and all the best to the students at Harumafuji School! Fun(ny) fact: His professor's name Sone Shika sounds superweird in Czech. Nešika (š=sh) is our word for butter-fingers or lubber
  16. As someone has already put it I don't really understand Kakuryu's motivation any more. The moment he got Japanese citizenship I expected him to retire. Whenever he starts preparing for a basho he just injures himself. Can it be money? Or does he somehow delude himself? With Hakuho it's been quite similar lately but given his Covid-19 case and his previous extraordinary achievements I'd be willing to grant him the "one more time". For the Olypics' sake. But of course I'm just a random fan and not an elderly man on a supposedly "toothless" council.
  17. How do you prevent The White Peng from flying high? You injure his knee
  18. Crane Dragon at it But then not at it again Most unfortunate
  19. I wasn't a big fan of Kisenosato but this Araiso guy hasn't stopped surprising me. In a good way, I mean.
  20. After giving it some thought I'm willing to concede that, anatomically, Chiyoshoma has been more of an ass.
  21. I thought the heel of the sumo world was Chiyoshoma.
  22. Ancient Greeks held these Mindless seers in high esteem Pythia-yama
  23. Whatever you do Don't forget to say it has Been done properly
  24. Silent emptiness Impressions fading slowly Nozumo again
