  1. Mainly we did Further reading: Ferdinand Seibt, Deutschland und die Tschechen. Naja, was wäre ein richtiger tschechischer Intellektueller des 19. Jahrhunderts ohne die Reclam-Verlag Bücher gewesen? And as for Pilsner Beer, the keyword here is Josef Groll.
  2. Difficulty in paddling. We use it in Czech but it's the same in German, as we've mimicked you for all our history ZW = Zahmwasser; WW = Wildwasser X = unfahrbar 1) ZWA 2) ZWB 3) ZWC 4) WW I 5) WW II 6) WW III 7) WW IV 8) WW V 9) WW VI 10) X
  3. Heh, same here. So many great games out there and I end up playing mariáš in a ghastly MS-DOS application from 1993. The irony…
  4. Magaki oyakata has subscribed? Anyway, welcome!
  5. Ah, thanks for reminding me why I never liked Kisenosato (strangely, I seem to like Araiso, though). That henka of Hakuho's is a thing of pure beauty. Also Kisenosato's face expression change. Golden!
  6. Do you really think You can bind a white peng by Signing an "oath"? Fools.
  7. I think I understand the prolonged story of Hakuho's retirement now. Hakuho: "I'm done. Retiring." YDC: [ some blah blah in background] Kyokai: "Impossible man. Cannot pay you. You've earned so much you'll have to die on dohyo." YDC: [some more blah blah in background] Hakuho: "I don't like it." YDC: [some major blah blah in background] Kyokai: "Neither do we." YDC: [angry blah blah in background] Hakuho: "So?" YDC: [even more angry blah blah in background] Kyokai: "So nothing. Unless..." YDC: [pissed off blah blah in background] Hakuho: "Unless?" YDC: [pissed off blah blah in background for good measure] Kyokai: "Unless we 'pay' you and you 'reinvest' the money back. You know, building heyas and such." YDC: [continuous lunatic blah blah in background] Hakuho: "No other options?" YDC: [frenzied blah blah in background] Kyokai: "No other options, pal." YDC: [blah blah blah in background] Hakuho: "So be it." YDC: [blah blah blah blah in background] Hakuho + Kyokai: "Will you shut up?" YDC: [won't shut up]
  8. This is great news and very fitting. Isegahama oyakata does have his own set of imperfections (we all do) but he seems to be actually learning from them. Out of the current crop of senior oyakata I think I respect him most.
  9. Chiyoshouma, clearly. No one seems to appreciate Chiyoshouma. Which is a shame, really. The world needs more Chiyoshouma love!
  10. Like many other truly successful people, Hakuho tends to divide. I'm ok with that. I feel privileged to have seen him perform. So long and thanks for all the kimarite
  11. That was one heck of A friggin' sumo career Trees or whatever
  12. That was the gentlest yorikiri I have ever seen from Terunofuji.
  13. Good thing you have announced it properly, then.
  14. A scene directly from Evil Dead
  15. Kayaking and canoeing videos. Mostly German/Austrian ones with inflatables. Steve Flusswanderer Ingo Ammerhai Maratokambo ToBoFilm and others. I got back into the hobby recently and it's nice to see what the others are doing.
  16. Wasn't it a coffee shop in Amsterdam?
  17. For my part, I like the normal slower version better. That said, first and foremost, I'm grateful for whatever kind of editing you choose.
  18. Shonanzakura is offered ichidai toshiori, accepts and opens Shounanzakura-beya (spelt exactly this way), called Hattorizakura-doujou (also spelt exactly this way). When Hakuho protests and points out that not even himself was given ichidai toshiori he's told by the Kyokai (via Shibatayama) that Shonanzakura has shown much more consistence.

As a vintage car enthusiast I've had some detailed visual and even tactile contact. Surprisingly, old models aren't as expensive as I expected, and even "normal" people can own them. At least in Czechia. Never sat in one, though.
  21. Spring rolls, that is?
  22. I've returned to paddling after a long hiatus. Luckily, we have a nice river in Prague (click) , so I could/can exercise my upper body even in lockdowns. It's a good complementary activity to walking or cycling and there's huge social distance on water, too.
  23. Or Harumafuji
  24. As I said, surreal. Over here it's among the most normal things you can have for breakfast.
  25. @Hakumadashi No, no, I was reacting to Churaumi's post about poppy seed. Makové buchty is THE typical grandma pastry in Czechia and you can see poppy seed food everywhere. Noodles, dumplings, pastry, even ice cream (not really tasty, if you ask me). Do people eat Mohnstrudel in your part of Germany? About weed I don't know. There is some level of unofficial tolerance here but and you can sometimes smell it somewhere but with sportsmen & Co. in might be more serious. But I don't know for sure as it has never really interested me.
