  1. I hope that he has a somewhat higher rank at some point in 2026.
  2. Well, it's better than the Taisho survivors have been doing....
  3. 16 zenshos, as many as the next two on the list, and more than one in three of his "unbreakable" career total, seems like an even more unbreakable record.
  4. No, I'm definitely not a morning person.
  5. Next Ozeki Aonishiki? Let's not jinx him.
  6. Now I'm starting to think that there's something to this.
  7. How have Shodai and Chiyoshoma only had eight matches after all these years?

    The Wall

If he does, first or not, he's going to make _intai_ without a MK, which is almost as impressive. And there are still two other sekitori wallys coming up behind him.
  9. So he's the Greg Maddux of sumo?
  10. That's... worse. And now I have questions. How does a junior rikishi wind up with a moniker like that? And what sort of reaction does he get from peers and senpais? I'm imagining the reception that a rookie calling himself "the real Tom Brady" would have at a NFL training camp....
  11. I guess he wasn't the new Hakuho after all.
  12. The answer to the question "how many times can Takayasu choke in a single basho?" is always "one more than he already has."
  13. Dear red shirt guy: walking in front of people to take your masu seat DURING a match (Ryuden/Oshoma)? Seriously? Learn better manners, or don't sit in the masu boxes. (Or both.)
  14. I've heard tell that Japan lost the war because they couldn't get over the Dewaminato yusho.
  15. It's amazing that we could still have a M18E makujiri yusho, if Onosato loses after the inevitable Takayasu choke. Five-way playoff, anyone?
  16. Well. That answers that.
  17. I still want to see a Takayasu yusho, but mostly at this point, I'm wondering exactly how and when he's going to choke. The fact that he's already faced all the Y/O at this point feels like it makes a choke more likely, rather than less. Also, a 13-2J still puts Onosato on a tsuna run, which is the main thing. (As would a 13-2Y, of course.)
  18. I had to look this one up. Damn.
  19. I know the president looks small, but he probably wouldn't fit in the mail.
  20. I'm surprised to find this here and not over in Ozumo Discussions, but it's not really an important distinction.
  21. In Canada, we do.
  22. Oh, no! Shodai has a makekoshi! Does that mean that he won't be the next Ozeki?
  23. How many tsuna runs have ended in kadoban? Wow.
  24. Oh, that's hilarious! Wait, you were serious?
  25. Well, at least he'd be the next Oze-- oh, wait.
