  1. Can anybody tell me what Ichinojo said during the inmterview after his victory? It looked a bit like he cried. Could have been sweat, though.
  2. I am really glad, that Hakuho won this one. To me, he is the best there is, was and ever will be (he is the Bret Hart of sumo^^). But seriously, I feel so ubelievably glad to see Hakuho wrestle, he is absolutely amazing, his technique and ring inteligence seem unmatchable. I really do not care if he goes back to mongolia or stays in japan, I just want to see a Dai Yokuzuna wrestle, and when he is not able to do that anymore, he should do what feels right for him. Because I think he ows nobody something, he gave us his sumo for free. Well, kinda for free but you know what I mean^^ Sounds a bit corny :D But this is ho I feel right now.
  3. I do not think sumo works like this.
  4. But why would there be roughness between Hakuho and Terunofuji? Didn't Hakuhos father bring Terunofuji into sumo? I guess it was just a heat of the moment thing, and I guess we will see a more collected akuho at the end from his bouts from now on^^
  5. Story of my life :D I really wonder if these are mindgames, or if he really is in sooooooo unbelievable bad condition. On the one hand I can not believe he is in such bad shape. On the other hand saying so much stuff about a wrong condition would be a pretty big lie. I guess we will see.
  6. I had that with 17, really nasty and painful when moving fast, and usually you are not done with it in a week. I hope this will not become a regular problem of Ichinojou, because it can reoccur when you overexhaust again. But he really had lots of stuff in the last few weeks, the media circus, the hype, the expectations, and judging by the the "treatment" he got from Kakuryu he may even have backstage heat. When he gets enough time to relax there may not be a problem in the future. Hopefully.
  7. I was already wondering, New Japan Wrestling, who also used UStream announced that weeks ago.
  8. What a Basho. I feel so lucky being able to see Hakuho. He amazes me everytime he steps on the Dohyo. Of course I would have liked to see a Play Off, but seeing Hakuho on the level that he is, is more than a compansation. Maybe Ichinojo will be the rival for Hakuho Sumo has been waiting for. But at the moment, he otally has his number. The only thing that makes me sad is Takayasu loss. He id really well this Basho, but in the end, not well enough.
  9. Or maybe he felt they just did that to demoralize him (you have to remember that he started as the highest guy at Minato-Beya, he might be unused to getting his ass kicked) and planned his "revenge". Who knows what happens behind the courtains.
  10. I am kind of sad. Yeah, Henka is a tactic, Kakuryu should have been prepared and so on... but making Kakuryu believe he is eager to go with the early start and then pulling a Henka, having that planed the whole time is way too sneaky for my taste.
  11. I share your oppinion about Nagao, he was quite impressive to me so far. Does he have a sumo background?
  12. I was very suprised, too and to be honest I think it is unfair, but sometimes tickets selling seems more important to the guys in charge i guess^^
  13. If he would have stayed on Ichinojos belt, he might have won. In general he is really doing good and fights quite intelligent, he is really enjoyable to watch^^
  14. Awesome Kubinage by Goeido. Too bad for kisenosato though. Ichinojo did not look great today, I really thought, he would lose during the bout, but a victory is a victory. I was so amazed by Yoshikazes match. I have the feeling Yoshikaze goes always with a plan in a match like "whhen Goeido wants to throw me, I grab his leg, when Kakuryu does not go forward I have to be very carefull" and so on. And I have no idea what is up with Terunfuji. It is like Karma strikes back for his Henka :D I am really excited for Tochinoshins comeback, I wish him the best of luck. Satoyama is doing incredible well, what makes me wonder what he did wrong last basho, I can't remember :D And last but not least Tokushoryu is surprising me, I guessed he would do well, but 8-1 is quite good. (Sadly Gagamaru is doing not as well). An awesome day of sumo. Judging by Day 9, Hakuho will take it home without a problem, maybe even a Zensho Yusho. But he has to face Kisenosato, Goeido and Kakuryu, so of course everything is still undecided
  15. Exactly what I thought. He seemed more eager, and maybe that was the result. I am impressed by Takayasu, he is doing really, really good this tournament.‹
  16. Terunofuji is 23 and has risen through the ranks in 3 years, I think he is able to improve and might be also a future hope. But right in the moment I would bet my money on Ichinojo. Maybe he and Endo (nice effort today but he seemed to be outpowered by Kotoshogiku) will be the next generation rivals? And maybe Jokoryu, allthough his sumo is not looking very good in the moment.
  17. Ichinojo surprised me, I thought he had no chance but he really did well. If this goes on, he might be in for the hunt of the cup.
  18. Thanks for the advice, Even if I can not find it, knowing of a sumo archive is pretty cool^^ This isn't the match I was looking for but thanks anyway :) And thus I proved english not to be my first language :D I needed like 2 Minutes until I got the joke.^^
  19. Hi there, I did not know where to post this, if this Forum has a question thread, I am very sorry. I was talking to my father the other day about watching sumo in the 90s and early 2000s. We watched a few matches and then we looked for one my father wanted to see so badly, but we could not find it. He says it was Musashimaru vs Takanohana. Musashimaru shoved Takanohana off the dohyo right after the Tachi-ai into the seconmd row (This might be a bit exaggerated). He thinks this match took place at a basho which included a Playoff between Musashimaru and Takanohana, which Musashimaru lost. Does anyone remember this match? Maybe the playoff story is wrong and he mixed something up. I looked up the bashos which included a play off between these two men (at least the ones that are on you tube) and could not find the match he wanted to see. Any help is apreciated^^
  20. Hello everyone, am following sumo for 2 and a half bashos now, and since I start getting adicted to it, I decided to join your forum^^ I watched sumo as a little kid on German TV (my favorite was Kaio) and through the internet I found sumo again. So I hope we will have a great time together enjoying this great sport!
